Woden—Harold Buns, who has been serving in the navy, arrived at his home from San Francisco, having' been given a discharge from service. Scarville—Mrs. Emil Hermanson entertained a group of relatives and friends in courtesy of her daughter and granddaughter, Mrs. Paul Van Kamen, Jr., and Christine of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Crystal Lake — Mr. and Mrs. Glen Chaily and daughter, Joadie, of Stratford are visiting Mrs. Ernest Peterson and family and other relatives at Britt and Kanawha. Goodell—Mrs. Cena Nielson was a recent guest in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Ruka, in Des Moines. The Rukas recently returned from Los Angeles, CaL, where they enjoyed a 2 weeks' visit in the home of their son, Clive. Chapin — Mr. and Mrs. Frank Philpot, Mr. and Mrs. David Crom, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cheever, Mrs. C J. Shepard, Sr., Mrs. C. E. Stonebraker, Mrs. W. F. Sanders, Leona and Patsy Crandall and Ruth Crabb were among those from here who went to Des Moines on the Franklin county Farm Bureau drive. Scarville—Lester Anderson returned by plane to Dayton, Ohio, after spending a week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howey Anderson. Fertile—Mrs. Roy Calgaard was dismissed from the Park hospital, Mason City, where she had been a patient following an operation early last week. She was taken to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gussie Haugen, where her little girl had been cared for during her absence. Dumont—Mrs. Gladys Schafer of Minneapolis and Kenneth Williams of Oakland, Minn., were recent guests in the home of Mrs. Minnie Kurtz. Fertile — Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rye and family of Lake Crystal, Minn., were recent guests in the various Rye homes in Fertile and community. Rudd — Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood and Ella Marie left for a 2 weeks' vacation trip to Denver, Colo. Nashua — Jane Hammond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hammond, went to Clear Lake on Sunday, where she will act as councilor at Camp Morrison, Episcopalian camp for girls, for 10 days. Riceville—Donald Clapp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Clapp, had an emergency appendectomy in the Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City recently. Dumont—Miss Jennie Anderson of Lebanon, Ohio, is visiting this week with relatives and friends in and around Dumont. Miss Anderson was a former resident here. Alia Vista—Relatives gave Mr. and Mrs. John Kolbet a surprise recently when they gathered at their home to help them observe their 37th wedding anniversary. Rudd — Mrs. Donna Tombleson and sons, Jerry and Dennis are visiting relatives at Mansfield, Mo. Acklcy — A pound social was given the Rev. A. K. Henning and family Tuesday evening in the social rooms of the church by the congregation. Rake—Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Carlson and family are spending a week with his parents at Chariton. v '\ Rake—The Rev. and Mrs. R. L.
