Osdge Seaman Sees Portugal Enjoys Shore Leave From Cruiser Macon Osajre —Leon Eugene Gunderson, seaman, son of Theodore Gunderson of Osage, arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, while serving aboard the heavy cruiser USS Macon, one of the 13-vessel midshipmen practice squadron on its annual summer cruise. The personnel of the Macon was extended a warm welcome by the Portuguese whose capital is periodically visited by ships of Admiral Conolly's northern European task force. Liberty in the Old World city was a pleasant relaxation after the days of intense drill and instruction on the voyage across the Atlantic from Annapolis, Md., where the midshipmen were embarked June 7. SHOP FRIDAY TILL 9 P. M SATURDAY. TILL 5:30 P. M. GIRLS IN CAME Iowa Falls —A camp for Baptist girls of the state is in session at the Iowa Baptist assembly grounds in Iowa Falls this week with Miss. Mary Rpden of Des Moines, director, and Mrs. C. V. Jones of Oskaloosa, associate director. Forty-one girls 12 to 14 years old are attending the camp. Another camp for girls in the same age group will be held next week with Mrs. Charles Mosher of Indianola director. LEGAL NOTICES ORDINANCE NO. 479 An Ordinance Establishing a Parking Lot and Meter Fund and Providing for the Payment of Said Money Into Said Fund and lor the Disbursement Therefrom Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa: Section 1. There is hereby established within the City of Mason City, Iowa, a fund to be known as the Parking Lot and Meter Fund, effective as of April 1, 1949, and the City Auditor is hereby ordered and directed to forthwith place therein funds as hereinafter directed and to disburse moneys therefrom only for purposes as herein set forth. Section 2. There shall be paid into said Parking Lot and Meter Fund, all moneys received by the City of Mason City, Iowa, from the operation of parking meters and from the operation of parking lots. Section 3. That there shall be disbursed from said funds: 1. The payments required to be made by the City of Mason City, Iowa, for the purchase of parking meters; 2. The cost of operating, maintaining, and repairing the parking meters installed within the City of Mason City, Iowa; 3. The cost of leasing parking lots which are now being leased, or whlrh I may hereafter be leased by the City of ; Mason City, Iowa: 4. The cost of improving, maintaining, and operating any parking lots now leased or owned or hereafter leased or owned by the City of Mason City, Iowa; 5. The balance of said fund shall be held intact and used solely for the purpose of acquiring, either by purchase, condemnation or otherwise, parking lots within the City of Mason City, Iowa. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication in the manner provided by law. Proposed and adopted this 6th day of July, 1948. PEARL B. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa: Section 1. That the attached revised ordinances of 1948 of the City of Mason City, consisting of Titles I to XI, in- inclusive, and consisting of chapters 1 to 75, inclusive, be and the same are hereby adopted as ordinances of the City of Mason City, Iowa. Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Mason City, Iowa, is hereby ordered and directed to cause said ordinances to be published in book form in the manner provided by Section 36G.8 of the 1946 Code of Iowa. Section 3. That said ordinances shall be in full force and effect from and after their publication in book form as herein required. Adopted this 6th day of July, 1948. PEARL B. BRUCE, Mayor ORDINANCE NO. 481 An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 308, Being the Building Code of the City of Mason City, Iowa, and Authorizing the Building Official to Require Surveys to Be Made of the Plats of Ground Upon Which It is Proposed to Erect Buildings or Structures. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 308 of the ordinances of the City of Mason City, Iowa, is hereby amended by adding a new section thereto to be designated as Section 102 a, which section shall read as follows: "Section 102a. Whenever there shall be any doubt as to the location of the boundaries of a plot of ground upon which it is proposed to construct, alter, repair, remove or demolish any building or structure, the building official is authorized and directed to require the applicant for the permit for the doing of such work to obtain a survey of the property owned by him, which survey shall be certified to by a duly licensed land surveyor, who shall mark the boundary corners of said pJots of Jand and who shall file a certificate with the building official certifying to the making of such survey and as to the location of said boundary corners." Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication in the manner provided by law. Proposed and adopted this 6th day of July, 1948. PEARL B.
