Spring. Charles M. Williams, 18, of 2317 Oakland was arrested by city police Sunday on a charge of being AWOL from the Army. Williams was lodged in the Cass County Jail pending his release to military authorities. JOHN C.

WILSON, PERU CARMAN, DIES SUDDENLY C. Wilson, 56, 539 E. Main was dead on arrival at Dukes Hospital at 5:35 p.m. Sunday after suffering an apparent heart attack, A and 0 carman, he was a member of the B. of C.

Born in Miami County Feb. 7, 1914 he was the son of Charles L. and Sophonia Wagner Wilson. His marriage in 1936 was to Beulah E. McGue.

Survivors are his wife; his mother, of Peru; a son, Samuel- Amboy; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Carl McCloud, Maywood, Calif. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Rites threre will be at 1:30 p.m.

A 1970 graduate of Logans port, Widner enlisted in India napolis Wednesday and is un dergoing basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Johnson of the Cass County State Bank has completed a two weeks residence session of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Classes started Aug. 17. There were 1,148 student bankers from 39 states and several foreign nations attending. Attendance is required two weeks each year for three years for graduation.

Justice. Child Hurt In Accident Two-year-old Nanette Rader- storf, 3015 Perrsyburg suffered a cut lip in an auto mishap shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson and 19th Street. Police said the youngster was in an auto driven by Paul C. Gagliano, 17, of 1400 Michigan Ave.

Gagliano told officers he had parked his car in front of 1012 19th on a downhill grade. He said he set the brake, put the transmission in park and turned the wheels to the curb before leaving the car. When Gagliano returned to his car it had struck a utility pole at the corner of 19th and Jefferson Street. Damage was done to the front of Gagliano's 1968 auto, police said. AMY KENNEDY, 80 OF DELPHI, DIES AT NURSING HOME Amy Kennedy, 80, Rt.

2, Delphi, died at p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Nurs- Home, Plymouth, where she had been a patient since Aug. 7. Born Sept. 3, .1889, Pitts- iurg, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ruth Munson Armstrong, She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Most of her life was spent in Delphi and Hammond. Only survivors are nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 until 5 and from 7 until 9 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. David Abel at 2 m.Wednesday at the Pittsburg Cemetery.

RICHMOND, Ind, (UPI) Frank Sinatra sang and Jerry Lewis clowned Saturday night so Dan Mitrione's younger children could go to college someday. Sinatra and Lewis headlined a benefit show in the Richmond livic Hall on behalf of Mitri- one's widow and nine children. Mitrione, 50, a former Richmond police chief who later became a police adviser with the U.S. Agency, for International Development, was murdered Aug. 10 by terrorist kidnapers in Uruguay.

'I never met Dan Mitrione," Sinatra told the audience, "yet he was my brother just as you, Arrest 4 On Liquor Charges Four youths were arrested by city police Sunday for violation of liquor laws. Joe D. Galbreath, 18, of Rt. 1, Bunker Hill, Jeffery Bostic, 18, of Peru, and Kenneth R. Lauderdale, 18, of Peru, were charged with illegal consumption of alcohol, while Douglas A.

Becker, 20, of Fort Wayne, was charged with being a minor and transporting alcohol. The four were slated to appear in city court Monday afternoon. Baby Waynure Dies At Peru baby daughter of Thomas and Gloria Jean Krile Waymire of 57.E. Spring died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday shortly after birth at Dukes Hospital.

Survivors are the parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Waymire, Peru and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Krile, Andrews.

Bordiner and Mrs. Sharon Gibson Bordner were graduated as licensed practical nurses. SUCCESSFUL BENEFIT Frank Sinatra (right), entertains Mrs. Dan Mitrione (left), and John, her youngest son after a benefit Saturday sponsored by Sinatra to raise money tor the education of the nine Mitrione children. The benefit raised 1100,000 and the show worked to a standing room only audience.

Sinatra, an Italian-American like Mitrione, organized the benefit show and brought about 850 tickets himself. The show played before a sellout crowd of 4,200 "and was expected to provide as much as $80,000 in trust money for the family. Sinatra provided tickets for servicemen at Wright-Paterson Air Force Base in Ohio and Fort Benjamin Harrison at Indianapolis, high school football players at a Richmond jamboree earlier Saturday, and Richmond city police and firemen and their families. He and Lewis arrived by private jet at the Richmond airport about two hours before show time and were greeted by the Richmond High School marching band and 500 to 600 spectators.

Lewis borrowed a baton from a high school twirler, and did a bit of airport clowning before he and Sinatra departed for the Civic Hall, which is the high school gymnasium. They met privately before the show with about 30 members of the Mitrione family group, including the widow and seven of her children. Two older children were unable to attend. 17 Killed On Weekend By United Press International Seventeen persons were killed during a deadly weekend in Indiana traffic, raising the state's 1970 fatality toll to at least 987, compared with 1,035 a year ago. Fifteen persons died from accidents on Saturday.

Three persons were killed in a crash at Jasper, while double- death wrecks were recorded at Morgantown and in Putnam County. Joseph Gibson, 18, Lebanon, apparently dozed at the wheel, police said, and was killed when his car left Interstate 65 less than a mile south of Lebanon in Boone County. Police placed the time of the accident between midnight and 1 a.m. Sunday, although the wreckage at the bottom of a concrete ditch was not found until about 7:30 a.m. Reginald F.

Draper, South Bend, was killed and a woman accompanying him was injured when his car went out of control on a St. Joseph County road hit a utility pole at high speed. Draper and Mrs. Christine L. Berg, 23, South Bend, were thrown out.

Larry Goddard, 17, Morocco, was killed Saturday night when his car struck a utility pole and a tree along Indiana 16 east of Brook. Three other persons in the car were injured. Brenda Carter, 4, was struck and killed Saturday by a car on a Morgan County road east of Mooresville. Authorities said she was struck near her new home where her parents were moving furniture from their former residence in Mooresville. Lorenzo Zavala, 51, believed to be a migrant farm worker, was killed Sunday night In a one- car accident in Adams County about five miles southeast of Decatur when a car driven by Eduardo Coronoda, 19, Princeton, swerved off a road and hit a post.

James Hall, 18, South Bend, was killed and five other persons were injured Saturday night in a two-car headon collision on a St. Joseph County road just northwest of South Bend. Walter Boney, 13, was Injured critically. Richard KarwacinsM, 31, Hobart, was killed Saturday in the collision of his car and a truck in Porter. Tom E.

Sorrell, 55, Leesburg, burned to death Saturday when his car was crushed by a big truck on U.S. 30 east of Warsaw. Authorities said a truck trying to pass Sorrell swerved Into Sorrell's car to avoid an oncoming vehicle. William Davis, 6, Greentown, was killed Saturday when struck by a car as he crossed Indiana 26 south of Greentown. Mrs.

Minta C. Shillings, 81, Cloverdale, was killed Saturday in the collision of two cars at U.S. 231 and U.S. 36 north of Greencastle in Putnam County. She was riding in a car driven by her husband, Ross, 81, who was injured fatally.

He died Sunday morning in an Indianapolis hospital. New Teachers Entertained Elementary school teachers who are new in the Logansport community were entertained with a breakfast Friday morning at the Fairview School cafeteria. The breakfast was given by the Logansport branch of the Association for Childhood Education. The association will hold a classroom demonstration Nov. 4 at Jefferson SchooL Scout Roundtoble To Plan Roundup Roundup and School Night plans will be discussed at a Scout Roundtable which will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday at Three Rivers Council 211 S. Third St. Tom Spehce and Don Conrad, commissioners of the Roundtable, ask that all Scout units be represented at the meeting. T. Arnett Dies At 37 At Hospital ROCHESTER Tommie H.

Arnett, 37, Rt. 1, Rochester, died at. 7:10 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he had been admitted on Thursday. He had been ill for six weeks.

Proprietor of the Gulf Service Station in Argos, he had served in the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict. He belonged to Leroy Shelton American Legion Post and the V. F. W.

in this city. Born in SalyersvUle, Ky. June 13,1933, he was the son of Chester and Susie Craft Arnett. He came to this area in 1950 from SalyersvUle. His marriage on June 7, at Clintwood, was to Carol A.

Whittenberger, who survives. Two sons survive, Tommie and Brett, both of Rochester; his mother, Mrs. Susie Craft Arnett, Rochester; his father, Chester Arnett, Forakers, Ky. Four sisters and four brothers survive. They are Mrs.

Virgil Bryant, Rt. 5, Rochester, Mrs. Robert Horn, Mrs. Larry Calhoun, Miss Barbara Ann Arnett, Hoy, Donald, Ronnie and Wayne Arnett, all of this city; his grandfather, LinviUe Arnett, Forakers, 11 nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Foster and Good Funeral Home.

Mrs. John Drompp Remains Serious Mr. and Mrs. John T. (Jack) Drompp, of Winamac, injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday at Ind.

High School in Football season tickets for the four home games of the Carroll Cougars are now on sale. They may be purchased at the principal's office at the high school or from any varsity football player. Adult season tickets are $3 and student tickets are $1.50. Single game admission prices are $1 for adults and .50 for students. The first Cougar game will be played at home against Jimtown, September 5 Postmaster and Mrs.

James Davis and family, and Mrs. Mary Simpson, vacationed in Michigan last week. While there they visited Rev. and Mrs. John Menoch, a former pastor of the Flora Presbyterian Church who now lives at Cadillac.

Mrs. Bertha Albaugh has returned home, 404 South Division Street, after attending the golden anniversary reunion of the Zachariah Albaugh family at St. Johns, Mich. One hundred and seven attended the reunion which was held in the St. Johns Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Driver Faces Two Charges After Crash Harold P. Hipskind, 49, of 1117 George was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and disregarding an automatic signal following a four-vehicle accident shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday at Market and Fifth Streets.

Police said Hipskind was driv ing a van truck east on Market Street and collided with an auto driven by Mrs. Thelma P. Henderson, 61, of 1307 George headed northwest off Erie Ave onto Fifth Street. Following the impact the Hipskind auto spun around and struck two parked vehicles, a car owned by Richard Gust, 1436 Treen and a panel truck owned by Floyd D. Tinkle, 332 N.

Hillcrest Dr. Damage was done to the front and sides of Hipskind's truck, to the right front of Mrs. Henderson's 1970 auto, to the left side of Gust's 1964 auto, and to the left rear of Tinkle's 1968 panel truck, police said. Ecology Education Is Important Says Democrat Candidate ROCHESTER-The importance of environmental education was emphasized by Mrs. Kathleen (Katie) Williams, Democratic congressional candidate, at a Young Democrat Fund Rally here Saturday night.

Mrs. Williams told the Young Democrats that Logansport is considering the establishment of a community college. A department of environmental studies would provide trained technicians and pre-professional training for the scientists needed in this area, she said. The speaker pointed put that an Environmental Quality Education Act is now before Congress. Mrs.

David Bailey of Rochester presented Mrs. Williams with a check for $350, the proceeds from a fund raising project of Young Democrats from Fulton, Cass and Howard' Counties. WHITE COUNTY CITED AFTER CARROLL CRASH MONTICELLO Richard L. Marlatt, 17, of Rt. 2, Monticello, was ticketed for driving left of center after a crash Friday night on Ind.

25 three miles north of here. George J. Douglas, 79 and his wife, Janet 77, were treated in Home Hospital, Lafayette for injuries after the two-car crash. State police said Marlatt's car and one driven by Mrs. Douglas collided after the White County youth lost control of his vehicle.

Police said Marlatt, en route south on Ind. 25, was slowing to make a turn onto another road when the brakes on his car apparently failed. The car left the road, skidded back across the highway, striking the Douglas car, which overturned in a cornfield. The Douglas car was declared a total loss. There was damage of 200 to Marlatt's car.

RAYNES WYATT, CAMDEN, DIES; RITES AT CHURCH CAMDEN-Mrs. Raynes Marie Wyatt, 75, of Camden, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. Born in Indiana April 15,1895, she was the daughter of Jener- ous and Lillie May Vernon Miller. Her marriage in 1919 was to Harold Lynn Wyatt who died June 27,1965.

Survivors are a son, Robert M. Camden, and two granddaughters. She was a 57-year member of the Camden Baptist Church and was a member of the Camden Dinner Club and the Women's Literary Club. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Sullivan Funeral Home.

MONTICELLQ MAN EXPIRES ON HIS 64TH BIRTHDAY MONTICELLO-Arvel Alexander, 206 N. Fourth Monticello, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday oa his 64th birthday at the Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been a patient there four weeks. For the past 16 years he had been employed by Peters-Revington factory in Delphi.

Born Aug. 31, 1906, in Salem, Ind. he was the son of Thomas and Viola Wingler Alexander. His marriage on Dec. 14, 1946, was to Nina Davis, who survives.

Other survivors are a twin brother, Narvel, Salem; three stepchildren: Mrs. Bonita Burget, Chicago; Mrs. Velma Townsley and Leon Davis, both of Lafayette; 11 step-grandchildren. Four half-brothers and a half- sister also survive. They are: Dudley Soliday, of Monticello; Harry Soliday, Salem; Eugene Soliday, New Albany; Acy Soliday, Charlestown; Mrs.

Martinez, Reproduction Section non-commissioned officer in charge, is the Second Air Force representative for the annual Outstanding Air Force Administration Superintendent Award.

The Fresno, native was presented a Second Air Force Certificate of Merit for "distinctive achievements in developing and-improving administrative duplicating programs and procedures during fiscal year 1970." An integral part of the 305th Combat Support Group, the Reproduction Section was rated "best in Second Air Force." Thfe 18-year veteran arrived at Grissom in September, 1969, after a tour of duty at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico. Since his arrival at Grissom, he has been actively involved in his section's self-help program. His five cost reduction ideas have resulted in a savings of $1,500. Sgt. Martinez is married to the former Ingeburg Marquardt, of Luneburg, Germany.

They reside in base housing with their two children. Car Damaged By Vandals Paint on the hood of a 1983 auto owned by Donald Hathaway, 1007 High was damaged when vandals set a lighted smudge pot on the hood. Logansport firemen were called to the scene at 5:25 a.m. Sunday. Fire Chief Bobby Bannon said the smudge pot had been taken from a barricade on High Street.
