1913. The Board of Public School Direo- tors met, this day. Id special session, President J. C. DeArmas presiding and the followioff members present.

viz: Messrs. J. C. DeArmas, Joseph F. Meyer, John B.

Hiogle, William Dymond, George Delesderuier, Meiggs Childress, E. O. Giordano, Frank B. Giordano, W. W.

Lemmon and Beo Ballsy. On motion duly seconded and car ried, the adoption of the minutes of the last meeting was postponed until tbe next meeting of the board. On motion of Mr. Dymond, seconded by Mr. Childress, resolved that all white schools opened last year which come up to requirements shall be reopened for a session of eight scholastic months.

This motion was carried unanimously. On motion of Mr. Dymond, seconded by Mr. Childress, resolved that the salaries paid teachers for the session of 1913-14 be the same as those paid the past session. The roll was called on tbe adoption of the foregoing and resulted as follows: Yeas Dymond.

Hingle and Childress. Nays Meyer, Delesder' nier, E. O. and F. B.

Giordano, Bal- lay and Ummoa. he resolution was lost. A motion by Mr. Dymond that the school be taken separately and the salary of each be fixed was also lost. Mr.

Delesdernier then offered a substitute motion which was seconded by Mr. Ballay and carried to the effect that applicants for positions In this parish be offered a salary of at least $45 per month. Upon petition of tbe sheriff and up on motion of Mr. Dymond, duly seconded and carried, resolved that a committee of three be appointed by the chair to examine tbe accounts of the sheriff kept with the board of school directors with a view of giving him his quietus If said accounts provs to be correct. Tbe President appointed the following gentlemen to act on this committee: Joseph D.

Gravolet, R. C. Favret and Russell J. Grimshaw. This committee immediately retired to the performance of its function while the board proceeded with other business.

On motion of Mr. Delesdernier, sec. onded by Mr. Dymond and carried, resolved that tbe assignment ot. teachers be taken up by wards beginning with tbe first and proceeding to the last.

And on motion of Mr.

Dymond, sec onded by Mr. Childress and carried. resolved that tbe said President and Superintendent offer as much as 160 per month salary if need be to secure good teachers for said schools. Tbe committee appointed by the chair reported as follows: Pte-e-ls-Hache, Sept. 17, 1913.

We the undersigned committee ap pointed to examine the books and ac counts of Frank Movers, sheriff and ex-officio tax collector for tbe Parish of Plaquemines, beg leave to make tbe following report: We find that said sheriff and ex officio tax collector has collected and paid Into tbe school treasury tbe 3 mill school tax and also tbe poll tax in fall for tbe year '1911 aa per tax rolls on file la his office and we, there fore, recommend that tbe said Frank Me vera, sheriff and ex officio tax collector be given his quietus for tbe year 1912.
