Timet Hernld\ Carroll, .la. Q Soturdoy, Nov. 21, 1970 ' • Raids (Continued From Page H South Vietnam. Radio Hanoi, in a Vietnamese-language broadcast monitored in Hong Kong, said the raids were carried out by "wave after wave" of U.S. planes. The attacks lasted more than an hour, the broadcast said. Hanoi's official Vietnamese News Agency, quoting a com munique from the high command of the North Vietnamese army, gave a similar report in an English-language broadcast monitored in Tokyo. Both broadcasts said at least three American' jet fighter- bombers and one U.S. helicopter were shot down. U.S. spokesmen said other supersonic jets from the Hancock, equipped With spy gear including highly sophisticated cameras, streaked into North Vietnam .to photograph supply buildups awaiting shipment' southward. They said the : reconaissance planes were escorted by fighter-bombers. " U.S. officials made no mention of any planes being shot down and refused to comment on Hanoi's charges that American bombers hit a prisoner of war camp and a number of populated areas. Laird, in announcing the air strikes in Washington, seemed to indicate that some kind of a search and rescue mission was under way for pilots downed in the latest raids. "To comment further could jeopardize the safety and security of Americans," he said. "Therefore, I have nothing to add at this time." • Bean Drive (Continued From Page 1) Prep Cage Scores Sioux City Riverside 66, Sioux City East 64 Waterloo West 66, Cedar Rapids Washington 62 West Liberty 58, Columbus Junction-Columbus Community 35 Clinton-St. Mary's 62, Davenport-Assumption 50 Waverly 76, Marshalltown 66 Oelwein 64, Manchester 46 Twin Rivers 78, Rolfe 49 Ames 102, Boone 69 Ottumwa 92, Pella 70 Spencer 77, Emmetsburg 67 Storm Lake-St. Mary's 72, Granville-Spaulding 58 Laurens 56, Manson 49 Avo-Ha 55, West Harrison 38 Albert City-Truesdale 73, Rockwell City 46 Rockwell City 75, Luverne 51 Alta 82. Latham says the purpose of the intensive drive to enlist farmer support for market development abroad will also accomplish these goals: —Membership in the Iowa Soybean Association will be increased as more farmers become aware of the impact market development has on soybean prices. —Farmers will become awara of the need for enabling legislation so farmer investments can be checked off at the market place automatically, as is the case now for beef and hogs in Iowa. —Soybean growers will also be informed of pending trade legislation which is potentially damaging to Iowa farming profits.
