Emery, pastor of Christ United Presbyterian church, and the Rev. Paul Roth, pastor of Immaculate Conception church, Haverhill, officiated at the wedding of Diana Jean Schmitt and Thomas W.

Gloede Friday, Aug. 12. Vows were. exchanged in a 7 p.m. double ring service at Christ United Presbyterian church.

Father Roth is the uncle of the bridegroom. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schmitt and Mr. and Mrs.

Tom Gloede all of Oelwein. Candelabra with swags of greenery, sprengeri, leather leaf fern and salal leaves centered with white bows, arrangements of yellow, pink, mint green daisies and baby's breath white carpet aisle were the church decorations. Mrs. William Hoffman presided at the organ. Kurt Langel was soloist with Tim Klatt providing guitar accompaniment.

Songs were "Wedding Song," "You Are So Beautiful" and "My Sweet Lady." Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white chiffon gown with a high neckline with a cameo inset of Brussels lace and seed pearls on the empire bodice. The gown had full bishop sleeves. The A-line skirt, which had a short flounce at the hemline, swept into a chapel- length train. The bride's fingertip-length veil was caught to a headpiece of seed pearls and lace. She carried a colonial bouquet of white daisies and baby's breath, pink and yellow sweetheart roses with white satin streamers.

Linda Becker, Cedar Rapids, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a mint green jersey halter gown with an A-line skirt. The gown had a sheer chiffon jacket with a hood which was worn as a headpiece. She carried a nosegay of pink and yellow daisies and baby's breath with pink, yellow and mint green ribbon streamers. Friends of the couple, Becky Fox and Patty Goldsmith, Cedar Rapids, and Lori Popp, Menomonee Falls, Wis.

were the bridesmaids. Their gowns and flowers were like the maid of honor. Junior bridesmaid was Beth Gloede, Oelwein, sister of the bridegroom, with Angela Rogge, Oelwein, niece of the bridegroom, as flower girl. They also wore gowns like the bridal attendants and carried small nosegays. Christopher Polark, Arlington Heights, 111., nephew of the bridegroom, was me ring bearer.

A cousin of tha bridegroom, Terry O'Loughlin, Independence, was best man. Attendants were Mike Kane, Davenport, and Roger Polark, Arlington Heights, brothers-in-law of the bridegroom, and Darryl Schmitt, Oelwein, brother of the bride. Junior attendant was Todd Gloede, Oelwein, brother of the bridegroom. Serving as ushers were Pat O'Loughlin, Independence, cousin of the bridegroom, and Greg Becker, Cedar Rapids, cousin of the bride. Ronnie Schmitt, Oelwein, brother of the bride, was an usher and also served as candlelighters.

The men wore Lord West champagne vested tuxedos with white shirts and green trim. The bridegroom wore a tail coat and had a white sweetheart rose with mint green baby's breath in his lapel. The other men wore white miniature carnations tipped in mint green. Mrs. Schmitt wore a pink jersey gown with rhinestone trim at the V-neckline.

The gown, which had an A-line skirt, was worn with a full chiffon cape. Mrs. Gloede wore a floor-length light blue gown with matching jacket. Both mothers wore wrist corsages of pink, mint green and yellow miniature mums. Special guests at the wedding and reception were Mr.

and Mrs. Arthur J. Farley, Dubuque, maternal grandparents of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gloede, Oelwein, paternal grandparents of the bridegroom.

A buffet dinner was served at the Sportsmen club with a wedding dance following. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Becker, Cedar Rapids, uncle and aunt of the bride, assisted by Mr. and Mrs.

Richard Rogge, Oelwein, cousins of the bridegroom. Kim Becker, Cedar Rapids, cousin of the bride, was at the guest book. Jean Ann O'Loughlin, Independence, cousin of the bridegroom, was at the punch bowl while Mrs. Dan Steil, Oelwein, sister of the bridegroom, poured the coffee. Helping with the gifts were Linda Kemmerer and Tracy Dahl, Oelwein, friends of the bride.

Mrs. Helen O'Loughlin, Independence, aunt of the bridegroom, and Lori Nielsen, Oelwein, friend of the bride, cut the fountain of love wedding cake. The cake had four round tiers surrounding a green filled fountain. The top tier was separated by pillars and decorated with a miniature bridal couple surrounded by butterflies and lace. The cake, decorated in light pink, yellow and mint green, was surrounded by sprengeri and baby's breath.

The bride chose a yellow qiana v-neckline dress with spaghetti straps worn with a matching jacket for traveling. After Aug. 20 the newlyweds will be at home at 5th Ave. S.E., Oelwein. The bride is a 1976 graduate of Oelwein Community High school and a 1977 graduate of Patricia Stevens, Milwaukee.

Her husband, a 1972 graduate of Oelwein High, served with the United States Marines for two years. He is with the Chicago North Western Railway. Mr. and Mrs. Gloede hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Sportsmen Thursday night.

Elizabeth Daniel Petrik marry at Dubuque church Friday In a candlelight ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic church, Dubuque, Friday, Aug. 12, Elizabeth L. Hauber, Coralville, daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Hauber, Dubuque, became the bride of Daniel R.

Petrik, Coralville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Petrik, Oelwein. The 7 p.m. service was performed by the Rev.

Karl Glovik. Arrangements of flowers with candles were on the altar for the ceremony. Music, provided by Byron Judge, included "Sunrise, Sunset," "Colour My World," "You'll Never Walk Alone," "Ave Maria" and "Lord's Prayer." Robert Hauber, Dubuque, brother of the bride, escorted her down the aisle. The bride was attired in a jersey wedding gown marked with beads at the banded neckline and English net bib. The redingote skirt drifted into a full- length train.

She wore a white hat with a large white rose with a trailing veil in the back. A round bouquet of butterscotch mums, roses and baby's breath completed the bride's ensemble. Matron of honor was Mrs. Julie Smith, Dubuque, sister of the bride. She wore a floor-length gown of burnt orange with a cowl neckline, long sleeves and full skirt.

Ushers were David Petrik, Oelwein, brother of the bridegroom, and John Chapman, Dubuque, cousin of the bride. The men wore rust colored tuxedos with burnt orange shirts. Mrs. Hauber chose a full-length apricot gown with rust colored beads at the waistline. Mrs.

Petrik wore a full-length gown of apricot with pleated skirt. Both wore white roses tipped in apricot with their ensembles. A reception was held at Junnies in Dubuque following the ceremony. Vickie Wainright was at the guest book. The four-tiered cake was on a revolving pedestal which played "Somewhere My Love." For a trip to New Orleans the bride chose a beige suedecloth dress.

After Aug. 20 the newlyweds will live at 733 20th Ave. No. 2, Coralville. The bride is a 1973 graduate of Hempstead High school and a 1977 graduate of the University of Iowa.

She has been employed at T.G.I. Friday's in Iowa City. Her husband who attended the Sacred Heart and Oelwein High schools and is a 1972 graduate of OHS, is a' 1974 graduate of Ellsworth Junior college, Iowa Falls. He is with Country Cobbler in Iowa City. Mr.

and Mrs. Richard Petrik hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Chateau club in Dubuque, Thursday night. "HAIR" FILM NEW YORK (AP) United Artists has announced the upcoming filming of "Hair," one of the most popular musicals of the 1960s, under the direction of Academy Award-winning director Milos Forman. Filming of the musical by Jerome Ragni, James Rado and Gait MacDermot will be on 4 various Midwestern and New York locations. The screenplay for the film was written by Michael Weller.

"Hair" opened on April 29, 1968, at the Biltmore Theater and continued its smash Broadway run through July 1972. Nineteen companies produced the musical around the world. There were a. total of 2,000 recordings, both alburns and singles, made of "Hair," with sales of more than 30 million copies. Leon McTaggart, Strawberry Point; Mrs. John Erickson, Wadena; and Mrs. Dennis McTaggart, Volga. The two Mrs. Fedelers poured coffee and punch.

Guests were from Wadena, Arlington, Maynard, Oelwein and Volga. Mrs. Pat Breitbach, Minneapolis, and Mrs. James Breitbach, Dubuque, were hostesses at a shower held recently at the home of Mrs. Sylvia Breitbach, mother of the prospective bridegroom.

Janet Kress to wed D. Dopp WINTHROP Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Kress, rural Winthrop, announce the engagement of their daughter, Janet, to Dave Dopp, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Delwyn Dopp, Aurora. An Oct. 15 wedding is being planned. Miss Kress, a 1976 graduate of East Buchanan, is a dental assistant with Drs. Kegler and Kegler, Independence.

Hersheys to celebrate silver wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Hershey HAZLETON Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hershey, who were married 25 years ago Aug.

17, will mark their anniversary with an open house on Sunday, Aug. 21. An open house will be held at 2 p.m. at their farm home. Hosts will be their nine children, Zena, Mrs.

Alan Lau, Fayette; Shannon Hershey, Kamiseya, Japan; Jolee, Mitchel, Kirtley, Lindsey, Traecey, Cheyney and Geralee all at home. Mr. Hershey, Bristow, and the former Maxine Parcher, Marble Rock, were married at the Marble Rock Methodist church, Aug. 17, 1952. They have lived in Hazleton the past 22 years.

Paul Wilke, St. Paul, were married Friday, Aug. 12. The 7 p.m. double ring ceremony was performed by Father Remnes at St.

Joseph's church, Barn urn. Mary Powers was vocalist as well as violinist. Organist was Cheryl Chris topherson. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of candlelight organza over taffeta. Her veil was fingertip-length.

She carried an arrangment of peach roses. Sue Lennon, Fort Dodge, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a peach polyester knit gown and carried a gardenia bouquet with peach pompon centers. She also wore gardenias in her hair. Mrs.

Richard Henke, Fort Dodge, sister of the bride, was bridesmatron, and Pam Fenema, Iowa Falls, and Lori Lennon, Barnum, were bridesmaids. Their ensembles and flowers were like those of the maid of honor. The couple planned a trip to the west coast. The bride is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and is a special education teacher: She taught in Oelwein the past two years.

Her husband, a graduate of the University of North Dakota is an attorney and partner in the McCarville, Bennett, Beisser, Ferguson and Wilke law firm.
