Principal Rolfe Wenner said seven white and six black students were suspended after the incident that started in a school courtyard and spread to the cafeteria. Students were quoted as saying white students began the dispute by calling black students "niggers" and other names. Wenner said most of the trouble was name-calling, with "one possibly two physical fights." Two years ago, the school was the scene of a racial outbreak that led to the closing of school for IVz days and placing of criminal charges against 25 students.
