Man Struck by Car Dies, Driver Charged ENFIELD A pedestrian, who was struck by a car Thursday walking on Brainard Road died later and the driver of the car that struck him was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle. Richard Bertrand, 20, of Fernwood died in the Wesson unit of Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, several hours after the 2 a.m.

accident. John Ledwith, 25, of 29 Connecticut Ave. was charged with negligent homicide and held on $1.000 bond. Date of his court appearance was not availabe. Police said they had no reports available on the accident.

A second car may have struck Bertrand after Ledwith's did, police said. No other charges were filed. Mr. Bertrand was born in Hartford and lived in En- field for the past 16 years. He worked: as a reactor operator for Composite Corp.

of East Windsor. He was graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in Enfield in 1974. He leaves his parents, Richard A. Bertrand Sr. and Joyce Marshman Bertrand; two brothers, Mark Bertrand and Scott Bertrand, both at home; a sister, Mrs.

Laura McKiernan of Somers; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Albert Bertrand of Newington; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eugene Marshman of Enfield. The funeral is Saturday at 11 a.m. in Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Somers.

Gray Dies; Was Deputy Sheriff HEBRON Harold Lloyd Gray, 77, of Hebron Green, deputy sheriff of Tolland County for 20 years and a former state representative, died Thursday in Windham Memorial Hospital, Willimantic.

Born in Richmond Hill, N.Y., he lived here 60 years. He was a Republican legislator; in the General Assembly from 1943 to 1945. He also was the town's voter registrar from 1940 to 1963. He was a World War I Army veteran and served on the Civil Defense War Council during World War 11 in Hebron. He also saw service in the Navy during U.S.

occupation of Vera Cruz, Mexico in 1914. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post and past commander of W.D. Post, American Legion, Willimantic. He was a constable from 1933 to 1949 and was commended by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare for two decades of service to education upon his retirment as a custodian from the school system in 1969.

He also was a justice of the peace many years. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Susan Miner Gray; a son, air Force Lt.

Col. (ret) Lloyd S. Gray of Storrs; Mrs. Dorothy Kirkham of Wethersfield, Mrs. Mary Venteres of East sister, Mrs.

Mary MacDonald of Granby; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral is Sunday at 2 p.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Rt. 85, Hebron.

Delehanty, 97, a descendant of George Washington's family died Wednesday in Sheepfold, her Crane Hollow Road home, after a long illneStiss Delehanty was a direct descendant of Samuel Washington, brother of George Washington, and, on her mother's side, of Dolly Madison, wife of President James Madison. She also was co-founder of the Abbey of Regina Laudis here and a portrait artist. She was a native of Washington, D.C. She studied at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., and conducted several onewoman shows on her works in New York City. She later lived in Europe and illustrated the "Methods of Teaching Gregorian Chants" by J.B.

He was 69 (AP). Area Teacher Dies at 31 In Buffalo Mrs. Joyce Harrison Anderson, 31, of 41 Salmon Brook Drive, Glastonbury, an elementary school er, died Jan. 5 in Buffalo, N.Y. Born in Springville, N.Y., she had lived in ton, moving to Glastonbury five years ago.

She taught three years at East Hampton Elementary School and for six years at the Eastbury Elementary School in Glastonbury. She was a member of the Connecticut Education Association and the National Education Association. She leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. DeForest Harrison of N.Y.; a brother, Harrison of Springville, and a sister, Mrs.

T. W. Coleman Dead at 82 Timothy W. Coleman, of 240 Church whose brothers founded the Coleman Brothers Shows, died Thursday in Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Middletown, after a brief illness. Born in Middletown, he lived in Hartford the last 50 years.

His brothers, Richard J. Coleman of Middletown and the late Thomas J. Coleman, founded the carnival operation. Timothy Coleman worked as a concessionaire with the shows. He was an army veteran of World War I.

Besides his brother, leaves his wife, Mrs. Betty Johnson Coleman; and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Ewald of Wilmington, Del. The funeral is Monday at 9:15 a.m. from Coughlin Funeral Home, 491 High Middletown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St.

Call Collect LEE INSTITUTE 617-734-3211 ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) All five crew members were killed Thursday when a Japan Airlines DC8 cargo jet carrying cattle crashed on takeoff, broke up and burned at Anchorage International Airport, officials said. The 56 head of cattle were being carried from Moses Lake, to Tokyo and all perished in the crash. Officials shut down Anchorage International after the crash.

At least one commercial flight was diverted to nearby Elmendorf Air Force Base, officials said. Identities of the crew members were not immediately released. The flight was No. 8054 from Anchorage to Tokyo, officials said. Cause of the crash was not immediately known. The crash occurred just after 6:30 a.m.

Anchorage time, 11:30 a.m. EST. Grant County Airport official David Bailey at Moses Lake said the jet left early Thursday with its load of cattle, bound for Tokyo via Anchorage. Bailey said the animals are owned by Colorado International Exports, of Denver. The cattle were shipped in pens aboard the jet, he said.

The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched a nine-member team from Washington to investigate the crash, a board spokesman said. Felix Naruk, Brother of Judge, Dead MIDDLETOWN Felix "Al" Naruk, 57, of Warwick brother of Superior Court Judge Henry J. Naruk of Middletown, was found dead Thursday at home of a heart attack he suffered Monday night. He was a Middletown native. He was an army veteran of World War I1.

Olivetti Firm Official Dies IVREA, Italy (AP) Arrigo Olivetti, long-time managing director of Italy's big Olivetti office equipment company, died Thursday in this northern Italian town in which the firm is based. He was 87. At his death, Olivetti had the title of honorary president of the company, in which he began working in 1920. He was considered one of the most enlightened Italian industrialists and had a liking for politics. He fought the Fascist and Nazi troops as a partisan in World War Il and in 1956 was among the founders of the Radical party, a small but active leftist group.
