Drive a then decide. night, Aug. 2 at the Oaklands Little League Park. In the regular seasons play, the red hot Patriots, coached by Roy Lantry, took home all the marbles.

The Patriots were a classy young team all year long and with stylish Johnny Lyles on the mound they were hard to handle. The booming bats of Benny Lee, Bubba Parsley and Bart Jones had the opposition off balance all year long. It was fine team and we congratulate Roy Lantry and the boys for being real champions. It has been a good year with all the teams displaying good spirit and sportsmanship. The managers did a fine job and we want to thank Andy Womack, Jimmy Wright, Neil Alexander, and Donnie Johnson for their fine work.

All other managers were members of the Recreation Staff, and they all know how I feel toward their fine work and leadership. We regret that some of the teams were much stronger than others, and we will strive to correct that situation next year. Can you imagine recruiting going on in our Southern League. Well it was done and we must close the loop holes. I don't know if any boy was offered a Honda or something more potent, but We must resort to a draft of some kind.

The managers have selected the All Star teams and of course we will hear some griping. But I believe the boys did a fine job and we should have two fine ball games. All Little League managers take note. A great big thank you to the Moose Lodge our sponsor, for Southern League. We consider this one of the finest Community service programs in our recreation setup.

Thanks again to every Moose member in town. By Ray Duffy, Rec. Director.
