PAUS TWO--SECTION TWO 1 i I Sundiy, April IH District Conference Of PTA To Meet In Denton This Week "Safeguarding of do Pirt in Civil Defense" at Through Responsibility" is the theme of the District Two conference of the Texas Congress of Parent Teacher Associations which will meet here Wednesday and Thursday. Registration will begin Wednesday morning at 8 a. m. in the Texas State College for Women main auditorium with the forma) opening cf the conference to be at 1 p. m. Following greetings by Chester Strickland, superintendent of schools, and Mrs.

August Schluter, president of the Denton County Council of PTA, reports will be hoard from conference committees. Henry Mings of Tyler, defense chairman of the Texas Congress of PTA, will speak on the first general session ar.d will conduct a workshop on civil defense. "Safeguarding Through Responsible Citizenship" will be the theme of the address by Ur. Imogene Bentley, dean of women at North Texas State College, which will be the highligrl of the second general session Wednesday night. Also on the program will be the Uenton High School A Cappclla Choir.

Workshops will be held Wednesday morning for presidents and aides, budget and finance, treasurers, councils, programs, publications and goals, high schools, study groups and education for home and family life, recording and corresponding secretaries, prc-schools and surnmei' rounrt-up and safety. Also planned for the conference is the election of officers. The nominees include Mrs. Jasper Barren, president; Mrs. J. C.

Stafford of Duncanvillc, Mrs. Otis Williams of Denison, Mrs. Paul Harvey of Gainesville, and Mrs. J. H.

Miller of Greenville, vice presidents; Mrs. S. Morgan of Dallas, recording secretary; Mrs. H. 0.

Harris of Denlon, corresponding secretary. iMrs. Barron who is running for the presidency has been filling an unoxpircd u-rm as president assuming the duties of president late last fall. Elections will be held Thursday morning. The local board of education will be hosts for a dinner Tuesday night honoring the District executive hoard.

The dinner will be at p. m. in Marquis Hall with Chester Strickland as master of ceremonies. Floyd Graham is in charge of music and Mrs. Helen Wright will be in charge of decorations.
