18 Jnly 14, 1948 MM** City GI*b«-Ou«tU, MMOB City, U. Board Proceedings KEGULAB. JUNE SESSION, June 14, 1948 FIRST DAY. The Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, met in regular session. There was present Supervisor Henry Hltzhucen, Chairman in the chair, and Supervisor R. D. Bobbins and Supervisor X. R. Steinberg. Absent: None. Motion was made by Supervisor R. D. Robbing, seconded by Supervisor E. R. Steinberg that Lyle Stunkard be appointed a member of the Cerro Gordo County Soldiers Relief Comrniision for the term commencing; on the day of June, 1948, and expirir Mon- bn the 2nd Monday "of June, 1951. Mdjon carried, all members of the Boar4 of Supervisors voting aye. Resolution Whereas, the County Engineer has reported to the Board of Supervisors that the rock crushing contract let to the Green Limestone Company, December 4, 1946. has been completed according to the plans and specifications., Now Therefore, be it resolved by the Board at Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, that the said contract be accepted as completed this 14th day of June, 1948. Motion was made by Supervisor E. R. Steinberg, seconded by Supervisor R. D, Robbins, that the foregoing resolution be adopted. Motion carried, the vote thereon resulting as follows: Ayes: Supervisors E. R. Steinberg, R. D. Robbins and Henry Hitzhusen. Nays: None. Resolution declared adopted this 14th day Of June, 1948. This being the day and hoiir heretofore set for the hearing on the proposed Assessment of Benefits and cost of construction, widening, straightening and repairing of Drainage District No. 9 the Board gave consideration to the ob jections filed and after due consldera tion moved to adjourn until July 8 1948, at 10 o'clock a. m. at the Cour House at Mason City. Iowa. The Board cancelled the 1937 cits Road Poll tax assessed against Stevi Fagerle in Mason City Corporation fo the reason that proof was shown tha Steve Fagerle was 48 years old in 1937 Resolution Whereas, Ambrose Fey is indebted to Cerro Gordo County, J°w». for personal taxes assessed in Mason City Corporation for the yean 19S3, 1934, 19M. 1939, in the aggregate sum of $28.06, and . Whereas, the said personal taxes are not a lien against any real estate. Now Therefore, be It resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, that the sum of *19.83 be accepted In full and complete compromise settlement of the said taxes, penalties and interest. Motion was made by Supervisor R. D. Robbins, seconded by Supervisor. E. R. Steinberg that the foregoing resolution >e adopted. Motion carried, the vote thereon resulting as follows: Ayes: Su- >ervisors R. D. Robbins, E. R. Steinberg and Henry Hitzhusen. Nays: None tesolution declared adopted this 14th day of June, 1948. Resolution Whereas, Alva'-G. Garvey is indebted to Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, for personal taxes assessed in Mason City Corporation for the years 1920 to 1930 inclusive, 1932 to 1937 inclusive, in the aggregate sum of $124.43, and Whereas, the said personal taxes are not a lien against any real estate. Now Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, that the sum of $25.00 be accepted in full and complete compromise settlement of the said taxes, penalties and interest. Motion was made by Supervisor E. R Steinberg, seconded by Supervisor R. D Bobbins, that the foregoing resolution be cdopted. Motion carried, the vote thereon resulting as follows: Ayes: Supervisors E. R. Steinberg. R. D. Robbms and Henry Hitzhusen. Nays: None. Resolution declared adopted this 14th day of June, 1948. Resolution Whereas, Joe Gallo is indebted to Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, for personal taxes assessed in Mason City Corporation for the years 1336, 1937, 1941 and 1944 in the aggregate sum of $18.92, and Whereas, the said personal taxes are not a lien against any real estate. Now Therefore, be it resolved by ihe Board of Supervisors o£ Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, that the sum of $13.95 be accepted in full and complete compromise settlement of the said taxes, penalties and interest. Motion 'was made by Supervisor R. I Robbins, seconded by Supervisor E. R Steinberg, that the foregoing resolutio be adopted. Motion carried, the vot thereon resulting as follows: Ayes: Su pervisors R. D. Robbins, E. R. Steinberg and Henry Hitzhusen. Nays: None. Reso lution declared adopted this 14th da of June, 1948. Resolution Whereas. Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, is by virtue of a tax deed the owner of Lot 890, First Addition to Midland •ielghts, Mason City, Iowa, and Whereas, Leo J. Debban, has made a written offer to purchase the above described lot for the sum of $75.00, Whereas, the City Council of Mason City Iowa, and the Board of Directors of the Mason City Independent School District have given 'their consent to the sale of the above described property for the said price of $75.00, and Whereas, the Board of Supervisors does by this resolution give Its consent to the sale of this described property for the said price of $75.00. Now Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, that pursuant to authority granted by Chapter 5G9, Code of Iowa 1946, the said offer be accepted and that Henry Hilzhusen, Chairman of the said Board o£ Supervisors be and he Is hereby appointed to execute and acknowledge, for and on behalf of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, a special warranty deed conveying the said described lot to the said Leo J. Debban for the sum of 575.00. Motion was matte by Supervisor E. R. Steinberg, seconded by Supervisor R. D. tobbins, that the foregoing resolution >e adopted. Motion carried, the vole hereon resulting as follows: Ayes: Supervisors E. R. Steinberg, R. D. Robbins and Henry Hitzhusen. Nays: None. Resolution declared adopted this 14!h day of June. 1948. Resolution Whereas, the Board o£ Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, did on June 14, 1948, appoint Henry Hitzhusen, Chairman o£ the said Board of Supervisors to execute and acknowledge, for and on behalf of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, a special warranty deed conveying to Leo J. Debban Lot 550, Firr.t Addition to Midland Heights, Mason City, Iowa, and Whereas, pursuant to the said appointment the said Henry Hitzhusen did, on the 14th day o£ June, 1948, execute and acknowledge, for and on behalf of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, a special warranty deed conveying the said described lot to the said Leo J. Debban. Now Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, acting pursuant to authority granted by Chapter 569, Code of Iowa, 1946, that the said deed as executed and acknowledged be and the same is hereby approved. Motion was mnde by Supervisor E. R. Steinberg, seconded by Supervisor R. D. Robbins, that the foregoing resolution be adopted. Resolution Whereas, Geo. J. Fell is indebted to Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, for personal taxes assessed in Mason City Corporation for the years 1922 1928 to 1937 Inclusive, and 1940 in the aggregate sum of $88.96, and Whereas, the said personal taxes are • not a lien against any real estate. Now Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors o£ Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, that the sum of ?B4.23 be accepted in full and complete compromise settlement o£ the said taxus, penalties and Interest. Motion was made by Supervisor E. R. Steinberg, seconded by Supervisor R. ». Robbins. that the foregoing resolution be adopted. Motion carried, the vote thereon resulting as follows: Ayes: Supervisors E. R. Steinberg, R. D. Robbins and Henry Hitzhusen. Nays: None. Resolution declared .adopted this 14th day of June, 1948. Board entered into an agreement with Mrs. Eva M. Johnson compromising the amount of $1,031.90 ior the care of John C. Johnson from August 30, 1945, to March 31, 1948, at the State Institution nt Cherokee in the amount oJE $775.00. Board approved primary election claims Nos. 22810 to 22933 Inclusive. There being no further business to come before the Board, motion was made by Supervisor R. D. Robbins, seconded by Supervisor E. R. Steinberg, that the Board adjourn to meet June 15, 1948. That was the party at which Siamese police wined and dined with 1,000 guests, then started shooting it out with the hosts— chieftains of the notorious "tiger gang" of bandits. One host was killed on the spot. But his brother took to an elephant's back and crashed off into the jungle via pachyderm.
