27. (AP.) An offensive-minded Harvard football team, showing mid-season smoothness against weak opposition, today rolled up eight touchdowns, four of them in the first quarter, to rout Western Maryland, 52-0, before a cheering crowd of 17,000. The decisive victory was one for a teacher over his former pupil. Harvard's Dick Harlow formerly coached at Western Maryland and his successor there, Charlie Harens, was one of Harlow's players and later his assistant. Havens centered and captained the Green Terrors' undefeated 1929 club which won 11 games.

From the time Harvard first took the ball there was little doubt of the outcome. For the Crimson needed only four plays to score it's first touchdown, with sophomore Jim Kenary sweeping his own right end for 23 yards and the six points. Kenary also added the point after. Midway in the period, after Chip Gannon had raced '23 yards because he could find no receivers for an intended forward, Ken O'Donnell passed from the Western Maryland eight to Bob Kennedy in the end zone for the second touchdown. Chuck Roche, a second stringer, tallied the third six pointer on a three-yard line buck two plays after he gained some 32 yards on a handoff to set up the score.

That came 13 minutes after the start of the game and before another minute had elapsed Kenny O'Donnell intercepted a Joe Gian-elli pass on Western Maryland's 46 and zigzagged to the end zone, aided by some crisp blocking by CLEATS PADS HOSE SUPPORTERS ETC. zone Henry Dombkowski and Reg- jformcr coiCge aces, but many of gie Lord ground out much the thpir piay0rs have college experi-79 yards as the Bears traveled for and the team has played to-their third touchdown, with Lord; gelhcr as unit secral sea. scoring from the four near the end 50ns of the third quarter 1 Th Pros probahiy will start Becker and End Dave Macauley with WaH Roberts aJnd Ed Mur. untouched.
