Swedish Transeuropean Bus Lines (Linejebuss) announced recently the company has received permission from the military governors of the three western zones to take tourists to occupied territory. Swedish buses also may bring non-German tourists from Ger many to different parts of Europe. Previously the company, which maintains regular bus service from Sweden to France, Switzerland and Italy, was not allowed to let pasengers stay in Germany. The transit run took two days with one overnight stop. In the American Zone the mili tary government has made available 60 hotels and restaurants for the accommodation of tourists who pay for their stay in advance.

A special tourist currency, "de- visen coupons, has been issued. since tourists and business men cannot use the military scrip cur rency or German marks. Devisen coupons, which are like travelers checks, may be bought with the bus ticket. They will be issued in sufficient quantity to cover rooms, meals and incidental expenses. Linejebuss said both the British nd French occupation authorities had promised to have similar arrangements ready in about a month.

IRELAND ENGLAND SWITZERLAND GERMANY SWEDEN $410.70 $454.70 $532.10 $546.60 $557.30 Ctaiises and air tours to warm climes such as the Caribbean, South America, Bermuda and Hawaii are the big excitement among prospective winter tourists, it was revealed by a survey of the American Society of Travel Agents whose 518 members are located in 240 communities throughout the nation. To accommodate what transportation circles believe will be the greatest exodus to lands of sunshine since prewar, shipping com panies are adding liners to their cruise schedules and airlines are stepping up their flight schedules and adding new equipment. The winter wonderlands, meanwhile, will be far from neglected. A flurry of inquiries about places to ski, toboggan, bob sled and ice skate at this early date points to a big season for areas featuring snow sports. "After the Big Snow of 1947 1948 heavy winter resort bookings for the coming season are natural," one travel expert observed.

"A sharp increase in interest in winter playgrounds has always occurred for the season following a winter of heavy snow in metro politan areas." Numerous exciting winter tours are in the making at travel agen cies throughout the country. Rail roads, both east and west, will step up their schedules and some will add ski specials that have jiot hit the tracks for the snow- lands since before the war. The airlines announce that they, too, are ready for a record season. Other trends shown by the S.T.A. survey are: Florida beaches and well-appointed hotels will continue to lure a large share of sun-lovers.

The period of greatest activity is ex pected to be the month of February. Accommodations span a wide price range. Resorts from Jacksonville to Miami will be popular, and in addition interest appears to be on the increase in West Coast spots, such as St. Peters burg, Sarasota, Clearwater and Fort Myers. Agents are busy booking vacations to points throughout the state by airplane, railroad and bus.

Arizona's rising star as a tour ist area will probably hit a new high this season. Attractions of sunshine, natural wonders and dude ranches can be reached by plane, train and bus. Travel agents urge that all types of accommodations be booked well in advance. California will be the great mecca for thousands of tourists attracted by the manifold charms of the Golden State. Excellent, accommodations and good transportation make California a favorite.

Mexico has stimulated new interest by making it possible for tourists to buy more pesos per dollar, the effect of which is to reduce prices from 15 to 20 per cent. Vacationists are placing the Latin land high on their where-to-go lists. Cruises and air tours will take travelers to virtually every Caribbean and South American country, as well as Bermuda and Hawaii. The trend in tours by both plane and ship Is for tourists to see more than the port of cajl. Land ex cursions will be arranged to various points in the interior of countries visited.

Trips to South. The Cunard White Star line will have its new luxury liner "Coronia" on the cruise schedule, sailing from New York on five 14-day Caribbean and South American trips as well as one 45-day cruise to South America highlighted by a stop at Rio durinc Carnival Week from Ferbuary 28 to March 3. The company will also have the "Mauretania and "Britannic" making cruises from New York. Moore-McCormick lines will have the "Brazil," "Argentina" and "Uruguay" on a frequent cruise schedule from New York. Arrangements have been made to have both the "Brazil" and "Argentina" in Rio for Carnival Week.

On the Holland American line the Nieuw Amsterdam is scheduled for two cruises, each of 12-day duration, sailing from New York December 21 and January 5. Calls will be made at San Juan. La Curacao. Kingston and Havana. Other Holland American ships will also make sunshine cruises.

Operating out of New Orleans the "Stella Polaris" of the Bergen Steamship Company will make three winter and spring cruises to Caribbean and South American waters. The Alcoa line offers 15 winter cruises also from New Orleans. Other cruises are planned by the Canadian National Steamships, the United rruit Company Great White Fleet and the Standard Fruit Company.
