A native of Proctor in Wetzel County, he was a retired carpenter supervisor at Union Carbide's Institute plant, with 24 years of service. He attended West Liberty State College and was a member of the First Christian Church at New Martinsville.

Surviving: wife, Vesta M. Arman; sons, Richard H. of Fairfax, James W. of St. Albans, Thomas D.

Hiram Blankenship LOCKWOOD Hiram Blankenship, 60, of Lockwood, Nicholas County, died Saturday at home after a short illness. He was a retired employe of Carbide Alloy, and a veteran of War HI. Mrs. Bessie Braden CALDWELL. Mrs. Bessie Lovings Braden, 74, of Caldwell, Greenbrier County, died Sunday at the home of a daughter in Caldwell, after a long illness. She was a native of Fort Spring, Greenbrier County, She was an attendant at the City Motel at White Sulphur Springs' and she attended the Community Tabernacle in Springs.

He was a lifelong resident of Charleston and was a 25 year employe of the Kroger Co. He was a Baptist and was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge. Roy Spurlock DANVILLE Roy Edward Spurlock, 56, of Peytona, Boone County, was dead on arrival Sunday at Boone Memorial Hospital. He was a retired mail carrier. Homer Hanna, State Political Figure, Dies Homer W. Hanna! a long-time organizer of the Democratic Party in West Virginia and Charleston businessman for more than 40 years, died Sunday in St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. He was 79. Mr.

Hanna came to political prominence in 1940 when he managed the successful primary and general elections of the late Gov. Matthew M. Neely and the late U.S. Senator Harley M. Kilgore.

He was born in Elk District, Kanawha County, in 1895. After being graduated from the public schools of this county, he took a teacher's preparatory course a and later completed a commercial course at the former Capital City Commercial College. Mr. Hanna completed courses at LaSalle Extension University of Chicago, Ill. He accepted the position as messenger boy with the old Elk Banking later known as the Charleston Trust which he served for 15 years.

He held the following positions with the firm: bookkeeper, manager of the real estate department, trust officer, assistant cashier and cashier. He was promoted to executive vice president and managing director, from which he resigned in 1929 to organize the Hanna Insurance Agency, Inc. On Sept. 1, 1944, Mr. Hanna was appointed clerk of the U.

S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and held this position until January, 1960, when he retired. After Gov. Neely's inauguration, Mr. Hanna was appointed director of the state Burial will be in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.

Gasoline Pourer Killed By Blast CEREDO, W.Va. (AP) A 71-year-old Ceredo man was killed Saturday when he poured gaeoline on a fireplace fire and it exploded, officials said. The victim was Henry MeKeand. Four family members escaped when the fire swept the two-story log house. The victim's son, William McKeand, 39, was burned trying to pull his father from the house.

He was listed in fair condition in a Huntington hospital. -The average Canadian eats 92 pounds of beef a year. was riding a yellow, 10-speed touring bicycle. He is about 6 feet and 150 pounds. He has light brown, shoulder-length hair and wire-rimmed glasses.

He was wearing bib overalls and a plaid shirt when last seen. Dale said the youth did not take a back pack or other equipment that would have permitted him to spend the night in the woods. Dale said Smith also was a counselor at the 10.000-acre park last and was considered "totally dependable." Dale said the youth had no known medical problems. HOMER W.
