Thompson. 29, w.ho runs a Long Island oil supply business, changed his plea from innocent to guilty on March 8 and threw himself on the mercy of the court. He could have been sentenced to life imprisonment. The husky Bay Shore, N.Y., father of three stood with his head bowed as Judge Walter Bruchhausen imposed sentence. His German-born wife, Evelyn, his mother, step-father and sister sat nearby. "In imposing sentence, the court has taken all pertinent elements into consideration including the fact that the defendant pleaded guilty and to some; 3xtent cooperated with the gov-i ernmeni." the judge said. •'The defendant was engaged during a period of six years here and abroad in undermining our national security. The consequences thereof are not readily determinable. It is clear that his crimmal activities warrant severe punishment." (UPI) — Utjca's Corporation Counsel has ruled that treehouses are exempt from the building code, so the city has no right to evict two boys from one. Building officials plan to appeal, however, contending the the youtlis' treehouse is dangerous. The mother of one of the boys, David Buono, 14, said the charge is ridiculous. She said the dispute arose when officials sought to force the boys to obtain a building permit and be assessed taxes on the treehouse. Public Relations Man 12 bedroom, i bath.
