The U.S. dollar fell to a new low in Zurich and slumped on all other European money markets. Gold touched $192 in Zurich, then eased back slightly to close at $190.75. On the London bullion exchanges, gold was fixed at $190.50, a record fixing. The announcement this weekend that South Africa might restrict the supplies of gold to international markets stimulated demand.

The dollar opened at 2.6460 Swiss francs in Zurich and fell throughout the day's trading to close at 2.6137, compared with the previous record low of 2.65 on July 9, 1973. in Frankfurt, the American currency was fixed at 2.4630 marks and closed at 2.4430, the lowest since May 16, when it was 2.4360. Mrs. Williams jomea cammus in ana has held responsible positions in personnel, production, accounting, sales and marketing.

She will assist the president in her new post. By DOROTHY NEWER U.S. businesses are now sitting tight and waiting for the courts to decide whether they are to be held responsible for failing to detect corporate fraud. The Securities and Exchange Commission maintains when stockholders suffer a loss because a company's inventory is stolen, its assets turn out to be phony or its profits suffer instant conversion into mysterious losses, the responsibility rests with the nation's accountants and auditors. Auditors and accountants, on the other iiand, say the SEC is haywire on the subject and they are not in the business of detecting fraud.

Dun's points out that the trial opening in January in Los Angeles against the auditors who watched the books at Equity Funding is a prime example of the confrontation expected. If the courts find Equity's auditors guilty, they will have to provide a partial reimbursement to stockholders. Even though Equity's executives plead guilty, as some of them already have, to felony counts, they couldn't make up the fortunes lost by investors. The responsibility of auditors for uncovering shortcomings in books will also be questioned in court in the cases involving Home Stake Production U.C. Financial and National Student Marketing.
