"They have a rightful interest in how effectively and efficiently hospitals are fulfilling their responsibilities, and about the rising costs of health care services. The objectives of National Hospital Week activities are to encourage the people of this community as well as those closely involved with the institution to 'get to know us.' "As they 'get to know us,' we hope the public will better understand that we need their involvement and support in order to meet the obligations of the community." National Hospital Week, sponsored by the American Hospital Association, was begun in 1920 when leaders in the health field established a national hospital day to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale who is credited with establishing the modern profession of nursing. HUSBAND, WIFE ENLISTMENT — Glenn and Patsy Holmgren, Audubon, Friday became the first husband and wife team to enlist in the Fergus Falls Army Reserve unit. Holmgren has past military service in the Army and Mrs. Holmgren will participate in two weeks of active duty, then return with the rank of sergeant. Tlie couple will have the same assignments in the company B unit. They were sworn in Friday by Capt. Ron Michelson. (Journal photo by Tom Hint gen) W.J. Del^ncey, president of Republic Steel which is part- owner of Reserve, said Reserve's taconite processing plant at Silver Bay, Minn., and taconite mine at Babbitt, Minn., probably will be closed if an appeals court agrees that the firm's discharge'bf taconite tailings into l^ke Superior is a health threat. Speaking at Republic's annual stockholders meeting in Flemington, N.J., Del*ancey said he hopes "a full judicial review of the expert testimony which has been presented to the court will dispose of the health question in an acceptable manner. "Otherwise, it is unlikely that prudent and concerned management could justify continuation of Reserve's operations." Del-ancey's statement was the first public comment from the co n i pa ny on its 1 ikely course of action if the appeals court upholds a ruling by U.S. District Judge Miles Lord.
