It is certainly wonderful to witness the great perfection attained in this class of cattle. One secret of this success is by drafting all inferior males for steers, keeping only the choicest for breeding. The entire cost of the establishment is estimated at $250,000. A few years ago the proDrletors of this farm purchased two cows in Canada, of the Dutches strain, for the enormous sum of $46,000. Most people considered It a very wild and hazardous investment.

The gentlemen, however, as the sequal showed, knew the superior merits of their purchase, for after keeping them a year and breeding them to the finest bull on the continent, they were sold to a stock breeder in Detroit at a net gain of $25,000 over and above first cost and all expenses. In addition and supplementary to the one mentioned, there is a large herd of grades kept for the beef market. Oat of this herd several hundred head are annually marketed which adds very materially to the income of the establishment. In connnection with the two herds of cat-Jle mentioned, there is a large herd of improved Berkshires kept for sale. Among this lot we noticed a couple of Imported animals.

The male, "Knight of the Bath," was bred by Heber Humphrey, Shrivenhham, England; and the female, "Cantilena," by Arthur Stewart, Gloucester, England. Beth pigs took first prizes in England and in Canada are considered the finest of their race, and were imported at a cost of severs I hundred dollars each. It is claimod for this breed that it has more muscular power and vitality, is hardier and less liable to disease, and will make more pounds of meat from the same quantity of feed than other kind.
