Several days ago a young lady came to this city nd registered at the DrittkiH hotel, fche to be from Galveston, had no baggage with her, and to all intents and purposes was a woman without home or friends. iShe remained at the hotel several days and tfhen mysteriously disnjipenred. She had no liaggage when she efltne to tlie hotel, not even a grip, and she left the hotel without giving any notice of her departure. Thursday a young man arrived in the city and began to make inquiries about the young lady. Tlie police became interested in the case, with the result that the young lady was located Friday night.

The young man was tohl where she was, and yesterday he called on her. The sequel was that last afternoon they were married nnd left the city. Little is known of the cause of tihis peculiar action on their part. The young lady is thought to lie from Beaumont, Tex. Their names are not essen tial to the story and hence are omitted.

TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. A Careless Engineer Causes the Death of Ten Miners. Wilkesbarre, Nov. 5. Seven men were killed and three fatally injured in Exeter colliery of the Leihigh Valley Coal company at West Pitston, near here, today.

The accident was due to alleged carelessness of tBie engineer, David Price, who, while aeting in disobedience of positive orders caused three cars to run into the top of the shaft. These cars, loaded and weighing eleven tons, fell down a foot shaft and crashed with frightful force upon the carriage carrying ten men. Seven were almost instantly killed. They are: Miehaei Smiiih, 115 years, miner, married leaves a widow and four children; Andrew Tiiike, 40 years, miner, married, leaves a widow and six children: iMichael Pod-esabnnny, 52 years, miner, unntarried; Jos. Cnhx-k, 125 years, leaves a widow and one child; Waslowski, 45 years, unmarried.

The injured: Wm. Pullos, miner, in-ternal injuries: Jos. Winster. lalmrer, head and back lacerated; P. Ix'oksnouos, borer, contusion of spine.

Mr. Tom Cage of Kyle and Mr. Cooke, who is a candidate for representative from this precinct, visited this place last week and addressed the reunion of confederate veterans oa the 27th of Octolier.
