The state contests, at Kansas University in Lawrence, had 1,178 students representing 157 high schools compete through 1,458 total entries. iS iji & KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY: Heather Dickman, a junior engineering major at Kansas Wesleyan University from Menlo, has been offered participation in a Research Experiences for Undergraduate program in experimental physics by the University of Oklahoma in Norman and the University of Colorado in Boulder. Each participant will receive round-trip travel paid and a stipend of $3,000 to cover basic expenses during the program. Dickman is the daughter of Bernard and Karen Dickman, Menlo. The KWU Eisenhower Scholarship awards $2,500 per year ($1,500 for non-residence hall students) to high school seniors and transfer students with a GPA of at least 3.500 and an ACT composite score of 22 or SAT score of 1030. These awards are renewable with a maintained GPA of 3.25. McMannis is the daughter of Dave and Tonya McMannis. She attends Canton-Galva High School. Craft is the daughter of Warren and Georgia Craft. She attends Gunnison High School. • Mariah Bergmann, Haysville, has been awarded and has accepted a Presidential Scholarship from Kansas Wesleyan University. The KWU Presidential Scholarship awards $4,500 per year ($4,000 for non-residence hall students) to a limited number of high school seniors and transfer students with a GPA of at least 3.750 and an ACT composite score of 25 or SAT score of 1140. These awards are renewable if the student demonstrates leadership abilities, maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and completes 30 credit hours each year. Bergmann is the daughter of Marya and Larry Taylor and Bruce Bergmann. She attends Campus High School.
