had served with the First Staff and Faculty Group at Fort Eustis, and 225th Maintenance Company at Fort Sill. Survivors include his wife, Nina; two sons: Russell Allen and Walter; and one grandson, all of Newport News, Va. Ben Hutchins Sr. Funeral for Ben Hutchins 79, of 105 Fort Sill who died a Wednesday in a Wichita Falls; hospital after a short illness, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church Memorial Chapel with Dr.

Charles Green officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under direction of Lawton-Ritter-Dalton Funeral Home. Beutah Patterson WALTERS (Staff)--Graveside serv-, ices for Beulah Patterson. 98, Lawton, a resident here from 1907-1951, were at 10:30 a.m. today in the Walters Cemetery.

Rev. Mitchell Lowry, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was under direction of Wyatt Funeral Home. Mrs. Patterson died Tuesday night in her home at 713 Gore in Lawton.

She was born Aug. 2, 1878 in Lucy, Tenn. Her husband, A. R. Patterson, died in 1938, She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Mary Smith, of the Lawton home; Mrs, Gladys Krisher. Gary. and Mrs. John Miller, Duncan; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Red Cross Offers Swimming Courses The Lawton chapter of the American Red Cross will be offering two leadership swimming courses beginning Monday. The advanced lifesaving class will last two weeks and will be from Monday through Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. at Pool No. 5, 4489 Bragg Road, Fort Sill, You must be at least 15 years old and pass a preliminary swim test of 550 yards.

For registration, call the American Red Cross office 355-8150 or stop by Pool No. 1 between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon before Friday. The Water Safety Instructor's Retraining Course will be Monday through Aug. 20 from 9 a.m.

to noon at Pool No. 1, Fort Sill Blvd. You must hold a current W.S.I, certificate or one with an expiration date of December 1975 or December 1976. Call the American Red Cross office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

ROTC scholarships pay for all books, supplies, tuition, and fees. In addition, recipients receive a subsistance pay of J100 per month for the school year.

(AP) The arrival of a cattle truck bearing 18 tule elk at San Luis National Wildlife Refuge recently signaled the return of these rare members of the deer family after an absence of almost a century to their ancestral home in the northern San Joaquin Valley. Prior to their transfer to San Luis' Refuge, they had lived in a pen at the" San Diego Wild Animal Park. Once widespread in California's Great Central Valleys, the tule elk came near, extermination under the guns of meat hunters in the late 1800s.
