The paper of Miss Laura Allison on "Promotions" and of Miss (Jrace Harrison on 'Primary Department" were excellent and showed not only a wide range of experience but devout re-Sea rch. Miss Lula M. Davidson of Chicago lectured on the "Primary and Junior Work" and showed where the Introduction of the junior section had solved the question of the boys leaving the Sundays school between the ages of 11 and 14 years.

Her experience showed that the organization of this special feature would strengthen the whole school. At the night session C. D. Meigs spoke 014 the "front Line Sunday Bchool." The back-line Sunday school is one that Is asleep, whose superintendent never attends a county or state convention; In the middle-line Sunday school, the study of the lesson Is not required, the teachers' meeting is not desired, the home department Is not admired, the library has been retired, and the blackboard has been "fired." The front-line Sunday school is one that has a home department, a teachers' nieetine, a normal class, Is graded and every teacher and pupil has a bible. He slated that there had been-quite a rise in Shoal croek.

That tributary lias risen 1 -l feet since the rain began falling. This will eventually result in a rise in the river. The rainfall has been a little over an inch over this city and county. W. H.

Thaxton, the Bluff Springs merchant, was in Austin yesterday and he said that the rain has been exceedingly heavy in his section. The cotton was dying for want of moisture but now It will grow rapidly. The rain was general throughout the northern part of the state, and will Materially aid the farmers toward a good crop this season, according to H. P. Koddie, manager of the llardie plantation near Waco.

Mr. jRoddie was in the city yesterday and expressed much pleasure at seeing the good fall. At Dallas and Waco as well us intermediate points between those cities and Austin, Mr. Roddie says, the rain came down in a slow though soaking manner, continuing in some places for eight or ten hours without stopping. This was, he says, exactly what was wanted by the farming- element, and all are consequently jubilant.

Especially is this so on the plantation of which he is manager, and where all have been hoping for rain lor many weeks. md the prices are 1 only $5.00 This makes two car this spring twice as loadswe have received much as any other and. dealejr buys and as we received bettor prices by buying in such large quantities, wo will give you tin: benelit of these close prices.
