Arrive 8 THE BUBONIC PLAGUE, The state heaith departru-f is in receipt of a letter from the California health department stating that the reports of theexistence of bubonic plague in San Francisco had been greatly exaggerated. The letter reports the actual conditions to be as follows: "There have been nine deaths on the following dates; March 6, March 15, March 17, March 18. April 24, May (two cases), May 14 and May 15." All the cases were Chinamen. The report claims that at present there are no cases In California nor in the city of San Francisco; and the board of health states that they are sanguine that they can keep the disease out from now on. A review of the case shows that the railroad company planted Bermuda grass on its embankments to prevent them from washing.
