Three Longhorn backs. Bertie Foster of Waco, "Sailor" Shearer of Houston, and Dewey Smalley of Yorktown, furnished the thrills of a rather slow and dull game. In the second quarter, Foster, aided by splendid blocking, fought his way past the line of scrimmage outside of the Southwestern left tackle, and then sped 58 yards for a touchdown. While negotiating this spectacular run, Foster stiff-armed i three would-be tacklers. Foster's dash was easily the outstanding play of the game.

"Sailor" Shearer got away for two 28-yard runs off tackle, and ran splendid interference. Dewey Smalley also turned in a number of long gains. Captain Jim Marley was the most dependable ground gainer on the Varsity squad. "Gentleman Jim" failed but once to gain yardage when he Was called on to pack the leather. Th Longhorn leader seems to have lost none of the drive that made him one of the best line -plungers in the conference in 1922 and 1923.

Quite evident was the lack of capable Longhorn reserve material, when off right guard. Foster made 8 yards around left end and first down. Mar ley went off left tackle for a touch down, after nine minutes of play. both showed to fair advantage on the wings Saturday These two wing men are long, powerful and fairly fast just the type of men Stewart wants for his ends. Heinie Pfannkuche was in the game every second Saturday.

The Buccaneers had considerable weight in the line Jttut the forwards played so high that their size and weight went for naught. Texas scored the firsi touchdown after the first nine minutes of play, when Marley plunged off left tackle. Foster's long run brought the second touchdown in the second quarter, and Wright kicked a placement from the 20-yard line. Wright went off right end in tho third quarter for the last touchdown of the game, and a few moments later Wright scored the last points of the game, booting a field goal from the 28-yard line at a dif- Marley. Wright booted the leather 35 yards, the ball being downed by Slaver of Texas on the 33-yard line. Royall failed to gain around left end.

C. Reynolds made 4 yards off right, tackle, Reynolds was injured, and tine was taken out by Southwestern. Newell and Shearer smashed into the ball carrier solidly on, this play, and Shearer slightly injured his shoulder. Berry stopped Mateer for a 1-yard gain. Mateer kicked 60 to Foster, who dodged hia way "back 10 yards to the 2V-yard line.

Marley made 2 yards off left tackle. Foster fought his way for 8 yards and first down around right tackle. Wright made 5 yards off tackle. Wright made 2 yards off left guard. Marley plunged through for 4 yards and first down on Texas 40-yard line.

Barcus went in forC. Reynolds at right half for Southwestern. Marley made 4 off right guard. Wright lost a yard around left end as the quarter ended. Second Quarter.

On the first play, Bertie Foster, on a cut-back off left tackle, sped his way 56 yards through a broken field for a touchdown. Foster stiff-armed three men. Wright kicked goal, with Foster holding the ball. Perrin substituted for Hardin at left end. Mather kicked over the-line, and it was Texas' ball on its 20-yard line.

A forward pass was incomplete. Gunn fumbled, but recovered, on a triple pass, losing 5 yards. Royall passed 20 yards to Perrin. Royall made 5 yards around left end. Neblett went in for Homan, "Blue" Smith for Ramsey.

Allen intercepted a pass and ran it back 10 yards to Texas' 35-yard line. Wright made 5 yards off right tackle. Smith made 4 yards off left tackle. Texas was penalized 15 yards for holding. Wright kicked 30 yards, the ball being; grounded by Shearer.

Texas was penalized 15 yards for interfering with a fair catch. Moore went in for Pfannkuche. Pass. Royall to Mateer, was Incomplete. Smith breaking up the pass.

Southwestern was trying desperately to shove over a touchdown. Forward pass grounded. Texas penalized 6 yards offside. Pass, Royall to Perrin, incomplete. Southwestern fumbled and Moore recovered.

Penny went in for Allen. Thompson went in for Sprague. Smith gained 3 yards oft right tackle. Schuhardt gained 8 yards through center. Johnson for Shearer.

Wright made first down. Schuhardt gained 5 yards through center. Smith made a yard through left tackle. Young went in for Foster. Wright made first down through line.

Schuhardt gained 2 yards through left guard. Smith made 3 off right tackle. Schuhardt made first down through the line. Smith made a yard off left tackle. Schuhardt mi.de first down by going 9 yards off right tackle.
