In a short interview with the Lieutenant, we learned that the location made by Payne was on the North Fork of the Canadian, about forty miles east of Fort Reno; that the town site was located on a high knoll, in the midst of a forest of black jacks, with the ground sloping in every direction from the center.

The plan of the site is made something after the manner of Philadelphia. On the knoll in the center a square park is laid out. Notice of this writ had been telegraphed the authorities at Washington, and orders were sent back to hold Payne in the territory until fur-' ther notice. Lieut Pardee received these orders on Friday evening, when near Pole Cat twelve miles south of Caldwell, and went into camp there, where he has remained with his prisoners np to the present writing. The government seems to be in doubt what course to adopt with whether to turn him loose, or prefer charges against him and proceed to try him for violation of the laws governing the territory.
