In a short interview with the Lieutenant, we learned that the location made by Payne was on the North Fork of the Canadian, about forty miles east of Fort Reno; that the town site was located on a high knoll, in the midst of a forest of black jacks, with the ground sloping in every direction from the center.

The plan of the site is made something after the manner of Philadelphia. On the knoll in the center a square park is laid out.
