Some 5,000 women from 22 countries are in on the act. Mrs. Elizabeth Carpenter, press secretary to the First Lady, calls it "a status explosion." After a slow start, she says "our country is making room for mom." And, discussing the tclent search President Johnson has bi>en conducting to find women for top government jobs, she commented: "All it really takes to find a uperior woman is a superior man and his confidence." Some of the top men in government, called on to make speeches at this week's conventions of the National and Inter- rational Federations of Business and Professional Women and the conference of 44 state governors' commissions on the status of women, are getting a bit self-conscious. Secretary of Labor W. Willard Wirtz said he's thinking of speaking on the topic: "Dina- saurs, Dodo Birds, Whooping Cranes and Males." And he paraphrased a famous quotation: "There's always a great man following a great woman." The men were in the minority Wednesday night at a State Department dinner for some 400 delegates to the status of women conference and presidential talent scout Johnson W. Macy Jr. said it was "so glorious I hope we can perpetuate it." awarded D furnish • to the will be >l Board will the i aforesaid School Board, this 27th day of July, 1965. District Clerk Arthur A.
