The team of college undergraduates will be coached by Gene Bartow, who coached Memphis State to a runnerup finish against UCLA in the 1973 NCAA championship and who now is the head coach at the University of Illinois. Besides Lucas and Buckner, both 6-3 and both headed into their juunior year in college next year, the American squad also includes Gus Gerard, a 6-7 standout orward from Virginia of the tough Atlantic Coast Con ference.
