Eugene Edwards, 51, 1848 Highland pleaded guilty to DWLR at Forest Avenue and Territorial Road in Benton Harbor Jan. 27. Court records show Edwards was also convicted of DWLR Feb. 16, 1983, in Berrien County. The following motorists convicted of driving while their licenses were suspended (DWLS) were ordered to pay fines and court costs: Clifton Wade, 32, Detroit, $305 for second-offense DWLS Monday on Interstate 94 in Sodus Township.

Court records show Wade was also convicted of DWLS April 1, 1985, in Berkley, Mich. John A. Johnson, 19, 585 Clark Niles, $100 for DWLS at Hoch-berger and Staley roads in Berrien Township July 13. John A. Robinson 23, 1095 Jennings Benton Harbor, $95 for DWLS Tuesday on Napier Avenue in Benton Township.

Vincent A. Smith, 31, Pine Bluff, $65 for DWLS Monday on Main Street in Benton Township. Smith was also ordered to pay $65 for improper possession of a shotgun in a motor vehicle in a non-game area in the same incident Monday. BCC BCC BCC BCC BCC BCC 34766 46th Paw Paw. Buhl dismissed a charge of tortion against Michael LaPine, and one count of criminal usi against Jack LaPine on the grounds of insufficient evidence.

All three men are accused of making loans at interest rates be tween 35 and 70 percent during 1984 and 1985 to William LasinskMwn- er of Paw Paw Auto Sales, accord- ing to state police. Jack LaPine is also accused of threatening Lasin-ski on Feb. 20 with bodily harm in connection with the loans. Jack LaPine is charged in connection with loans for $12,500 and $50,000, and Roberts in connection with a $25,000 loan. The charges against Michael LaPine grew out of loans he allegedly made for $44,100, $20,000, and $25,000.

In other cases, Lloyd A. West 22, 514 S. LaGrave, Paw Paw, demanded preliminary examination on a charge of felonious assault. He is accused of hitting Kenneth Shears of Lawrence in the head with a metal bar Monday at the intersection of LaGrave and Michigan 40 in Paw Paw Township. West was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 18 hearing.

Bound over to Van Buren Circuit Court after waiving preliminary hearings were: Eric E. White, 17, 215 E. Sherwood, Decatur, charged with unarmed robbery, allegedly stealing $18 from Shawn White, 14, Lawton, on Jan. 29 in Lawton. Eric White and Shawn White are not related.

Miguel Torres, 34, 72749 39th Paw Paw, charged with assault with intent to commit murder. He is accused of slashing Gabriel Flo-res, 41, with a knife March 1 at Flo-res' Decatur Township home. John A. Foster, 57, whose last listed address was in the Orlando, area, on two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is accused of fondling an 11-year-old boy on two occasions on July 14, 1984, and with fondling a 13-year-old boy in early July 1984.

The incidents allegedly occurred in Paw Paw Township. Norman E. Parker 31, Chicago, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with credit for as much time already served, for use of cocaine on May 4, 1985, in Lawrence Township. He was also fined $200 and ordered to pay $660 in attorney fees. plea bargain agreement on a charge of cruelty to children, ages one and three, in Columbia Township in March 1985.

Gerry Gulliver, 20, 513 Indiana South Haven, was sentenced to 45 days in jail for receiving and concealing stolen property under $100. Robert Kizer, 45, 1031 Pipestone Road, Benton Harbor, was fined $355 for failure to present a handgun for a safety inspection, reduced from carrying a concealed weapon in Hartford. Joseph Tuesday. Donald R. Shields, 22, Oak Park, 111., pleaded guilty to a charge of escape at the jail, 919 Port St. Joseph, Feb. 15, while awaiting tri-lal.

Shields and another inmate, Percy Griffin 39, 579 Edwards Benton Harbor, allegedly attempted to escape from the jail Feb. 15. The two inmates allegedly freed themselves from their cell but were apprehended before they, able to get outside the jail. Court records show Shields is trial in circuit court for 1982 armed robbery of a Buchanan gas station. Griffin is also awaiting trial on an armed robbery charge stemming from a hold-up at 'Harding's Market in Eau Claire -last October.

Griffin waived a preliminary bearing Tuesday on a charge of malicious destruction of a building over $100 and was bound over to circuit court for arraignment. He is "accused of damaging the jail during the alleged escape attempt. According to cotirt records, Griffin is to plead guilty in circuit court to the malicious destruction charge and a charge of escape is to be dismissed. He is jailed, in lieu of $25,000 bond. Joseph, Willie L. Johnson, 44, 1961 Union Benton Township, was sentenced by Judge Daniel Deja to 90 days in jail for shoplifting a bottle of wine and package of fish sticks at Jewel Foods, 756 E.
