were the guests of Mr and Mrs Henry Martin Monday Also stopping by for a short visit on their way to Ardmore Monday were Mrs Martin's brother in law Mr and Mrs Boyd Hansboro of Eufaula Harold Martin A andtM student at Okmulgee was home for the weekend also Mr and Mrs Jiggs Jackson Bertha and Roger of Seminole were Sunday visitors in the home of the former's parents Mr and Mrs Jackson Mr and Mrs Turner re turned Monday evening from Tah lequah where they spent the week end with their daughter Marian They were accompanied by their other daughter Mrs rank Peve house and Sammy The Turners took them on to their home at Rat liff City later that evening Mr and Mrs Homer Brown of Lawton were weekend guests in the home of his aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Calvin Brown BOB DAMS ILL Trophies for winning schools at the 38th Annual East Central Interscholastic meet are large again this year our East Central girls arc shown preparing to set up a display of the seven trophies offered The girls the event here this weekend (News Staff Photo) A Davis received word this week that his brother Bob Davis whose home is in Indiana was ser iously ill and not expected to live Davis was unable to go to the bed side of his brother due to being in ill health himself Bob Davis is a former resident of Jesee and Stonewall and an older brother of Mr Davis Mr and Mrs Henry Clampitt were dinner guests of Mr and Mrs red Bradduck and children ri day evening The Bradducks spent Sunday with his parents Mr and Mrs Bradduck received word of the death of his nephew Wilbur Bland He was ournea to death in an oilfield ex plosion and fire Monday March 15 where he was employed near Oak orest Penn He was about 45 years of age and leaves a wife and three children Her condition has shown verv little improvement Walker of Oklahoma City Leading the singing each night will be Bro Julian Wilson of ort Worth Texas Mrs wary Blecker mother of Mrs Whitten who has been ill at the home of the latter for several weeks was removed to Val ley View Hospital riday evening The Girls Auxiliary of the irst Baptist Church met with Mrs Tom Parrish after school Thursday af ternoon In addition to their regu lar program they went to the home of Mrs Ellen Hudson and presented her with a fruit shower Refresh RECUPERATING Miss Marie Buttrill is recovering nicely from an emergency appen dectomy performed at Valley View Hospital Wednesday of last week She came home Sunday is schedul ed for a check up by her doctor Thursday and hopes to be able to be back in school by Monday Marie is a member of the sophomore class at McLish She is the daughter of Mrs Edna Buttrill Mr and Mrs (Blackie) Lee had as their guests Saturday and Sunday Emmett Lee Eddie and Ola Mae of San Antonio Texas They were accompanied by MrsOla Lancaster of ort Worth Em mett Lee is an uncle of Mr whom he had not seen for more than 36 years and it was the first time Mrs Lee had ever met him Mrs Lancaster is Mr sister Needless to say uncle and nephew thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about events of nearly a half cen tury ago Mr and Mrs George Seaton Debby and Gail Ann of Elmore City were visitors of Mr and Mrs A Skeith Sunday Mr Seaton is superintendent of schools at El more and Mr Skeith lived in their home during the two years he was engaged in the grocery business there Mr and Mrs Troy Sherrell spent Sunday and Monday in Edmond as guests of their son Leon and fam ily Mrs Ellen Hudson who has Been under the treatment of a doctor for several weeks for a head infection has now ben dismissed from his care Guests of Mr and Mrs Jim Dun can Sunday were their two nep hews Billy and Jay Woods andtheir families of Tulsa OX OUT HOSPITAL red ox returned to work at the Kerr McGee Gasoline plant this week after two absence Luther Wilson were in Healdton Sunday where they were guests of their son and daugh ter in law Mr and Mrs Sheldon Wilson It was their first visit with the young people since they had established a assist in making it a memorable ocasion his parents Mr and Mrs Joe Stanford and grandparents Mr and Mrs Dowell Stanford enter tained jointly with a party in his honor The event which was a com plete surprise to Joe was held at 7:30 in the den of the spac ious and lovely ranch home of his grandparents south and west of ittstown A number of games were played under the direction of Mrs Velton Stanford and Miss La Juana Kiser after which the hon oree opened his gifts The scene then shifted to the dining room Color pictures were made and the guests seranaded the honoree with the as he made his wish and blew out the sixteen candles on the huge handsomely decorated cake Other pictures of the activities were made throughout the evening Refreshments ice cream sundaes and cokes were served Jerry Harlin will provide the interlude music A special mat inee will be presented for the stu dent body on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 Mrs Wigley and Barbara joined Mr Wigley and Butch at Murray Lodge Sunday afternoon where they attended the banquet for the members of the Southern Oklahoma Angus Breeders Associa tion Also attending the banquet were Carlton Corbin and son Bill Mrs Corbin and daughter Virginia Stillwater student were in Ardmore Monday where they joined Mr Corbin and Bill and attended the Angus Breeders' show and sale Virginia showed her own steer at the event which attracts hundreds of Angus breed ers annually from all over this half of the state After the show she caught a ride back to Stillwater with friends Mrs Corbin who helped clerk the sale and Bill came home Tuesday morning in time for him to make his 9 o'clock class Corbin and Wigley returned later the day SEEN AND HEARD Mrs Corbin and Mary stormed off in Shawnee en route to Stillwater for the Workshop Monday March 29 home demon stration club leaders will meetjor a training meeting on Arts and Crafts The training meeting will begin at 1:30 Three separate demonstration will be given Group I leaders will study cos tume decorating The group will meet in the county commissioner's room second floor of the county courthouse Group II meets at the City Hall Women in this group will study textile painting Group HI also meets at the City Hall This demonstration will be on embroidery Swedish embroid ery and other stitches will be shown Leaders who meet in this group should bring a piece of huck towel ing number 5 pearl cotton thread and a large needle that will carry the thread for the Swedish' em broidery Some of the local stores have these large needles in stock or the other embroidery stitches bring a pmee of material to work on embroidery thread needle and hoops Each home demonstration club should be represented by three women to study these demonstra tions Leaders will give the demonstra tions at April home demonstration club meetings 4 II Club Health Contest Arrangements have been made with Doctor Ray Northrip acting city county health doctor to give physical examinations to 4 club members entering the health con test The examinations will be given on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 4 clubs who should have their health entrants in for their exami nations Tuesday March 30 are: Jesse Latta Homer Happyland and Kallihoma Health entrants who failed to get their physical examinations on Tuesday March 23 or Thursday March 25 should make arrange ments to come in on one of the other specified dates 4 Share The un estival: The 4 Share the un estival will be held riday March 26 at the Byng highschool auditorium The program will begin at 7:30 Everyone is
