to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy He wu released but an infection followed the eurgery then he contracted pneumonia and he wu back in the hospital for an additional 10 day stay He wu released today (Tuesday) and hoping that henceforth he can steer dear of hospitala Byng1! seems everybody Is trying to get in a little more vacation though soma ambitious ones have already started getting achoot wardrobes ready Byng teachers are suddenly realising that they have only about three weeks left beofre they report to work They will begin their duties on August 30 though Marvin Stokes principal and Thelma Dellinger homemaking teacher are already on the Job Several improvements hav been made in tha school building and grounds New aluminum windows have been Installed in the auditorium Tha lunchroom has been painted! both the interior and exterior Several classrooms have also been painted and when painting was not necessary walls wow scrubbed and floors reflnish-ed to present a more pleasing appearance An additional school bus has been purchased which should help to relieve crowded conditions During the part year due to increased enrollment all busses were filled to capacity and most had to make two loads Recently most of the school ground was paved It is hoped that this will not only eliminate a great deal of mud but that It will also take earn of a drainage problem that has caused much trouble fat the past Student will start enrolling Monday Aug The always take their vacations together and this is their sixth trip to this region Nimerous people from the community attended die funeral of Leon Berryman last Saturday Mr Berryman It had grown up la the community and was a grad uata of Byng School Until his parents' deaths a few years ago Mr Berryman had made his home here with them commuting to his teaching job Ha had taught at several schools in the area and waa writ liked by all who know him His death came as a result of pneumonia which developed following surgery Tm only ourviving members of his Mra Charley Williams spent Sunday night planned We can sympathize from a personal viewpoint I'll never forget a few yean ago when we remodelled our house 'Wo hadn't had rain hi months until there came tha moment of truth when we had to rip off tha existing roof At that time tha sky was clear and blue Within an hour there wu a smattering of clouds within two hours tho sky wu completely overcast then tha ha evens opened up and a deluge of
