The contest promises to be long and bitter. RASCALLY 1WXIEH8. They Wilp a Hoy anil Shoot His Father unci a Neighbor, Lebanon, Nov. 5. News reached hero yesterday afternoon of a most shocking double murder, which was committed near Mack's creek, twenty miles northwest of here.

Tho facts in the case, as far as can ho learned, are as follows: "A party consisting of five men have been camping near Mack's creek on tho Littlo Niangua river for ft few weeks hunting, fishing and trapping. Sunday morning they met tho fourteen-year-old son of Ed Hurst, a farmer living in that neighborhood, in the bottoms near their camp. They accused him of having stolen and destroyed their traps, and tied him to a tree and whipped him. He went home and reported the fact to his father who, accompanied by a young man named Wheeler Green, went to tho camp of the trappers to investigate tho matter. The men quarreled and in the fight which ensued Cirecn was shot in the head and instantly killed, while Hurst was shot several times and reported to be fatally wounded.

There is a large party of citizens scouring the woods in search of the murderers, who left their camp immediately after tho shooting and have not been heard of since. Tho five murderers, if caught, will probably be lynched, as both tho men killed wore good citizens and have many friends in that locality. CUEnOKEIS LmiSL-lI UlIK The Session Commenced nt Tahlciiiali-Tho Council Not Organized, Tahleqvaii, I. T. Nov.

6, Tho Cherokee Legislature met yesterday, and both houses, the Senate and the Council, proceeded to organize. The expected contest In the Senate over the presidency did not occur, one member of the National party, ex-Chief Bunch, being absent, and L. 11. Bell was elected by two majority over the National candidate, YV. I'.

Ross, of the Illinois district. After the election the Nationals proposed to convey to the Council the fact that llieywere organized and were ready to hear tho message of Chief Mayes and proceed to business, but the Downings contended that tho contested seat cases should first be disposed of and they carried tho day and the delivery of the message was postponed two or throe days. The contest of Jones vs. Henry Ross was begun, but the Senate adjourned without having heard all tho testimony. Matters were in a worse condition in the Council as it adjourned without electing a president, and there are a few contests for seats to be settled.

The disposition of the Outlet will not bo affected one way or the other by the outcomo of the contests, except that it will delay for several days the agitation of the vexed question. London', Nov. 5. A message was received at Zanzibar yesterday from Stanley by tho Emin committee, which states that after the return from tho Congo of the expedition sent out in search for Colonel Bartellot's caravan, Emin's troops revolted. The Mah-(lists invaded the equatorial province of AVadelai in full force. Emin and Jephson were taken prisoners on August 18, 1888.

Tho natives joined the invaders and assisted in the destruction of tho province and many fugitives were killed. Emin's 4,000 followers were presumably reduced by death and desertions to 800. The dispatch says Stanley reached Albert Nyanza the third time on the 18th of January, 1889, succoring the survivors. He waited there till tho 18th day of May and with the fugitives then started for tho coast. On the Verge of Starvation.
