Nixon said earlier this year he would propose a 7 per cent increase in social security payments to help meet the cost of living rise since the 13 per cent increase in monthly benefits effective in February, 1968. Joseph Culvahouse. i 1 e-brandt road, Bridgman, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of impaired driving and paid $45 fine and S63 costs. The original charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants was dismissed on motion of the prosecutor.

Hayes a i 45, Sodus, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of intoxicants and was assessed $103 fine and costs. A charge of fleeing a police officer was dismissed on motion of the prosecutor, and Raymond Coffey, 54, 860 Wauceda, Benton Harbor, uleaded euiltv to the reduced charge of disorderly conduct. Coffey was sentenced to 30 days. Eddie Howard Haney. 21, 1770 South Sierra way, Stevensville, was assessed $93, or 45 days.

Haney pleaded guilty earlier in tne month to furnishing intoxicants to a minor. A charge of assault and battery against Charles Weath-erly, 1861 Shawnee road, Ba-roda. was dismissed- on motion of the prosecutor. Log Truck Rolls Over; Driver Hurt A log truck rolled over on M-140 and Maple Grove road, Berrien township, yesterday, injuring the driver, Berrien sheriff's Deputy Sgt "John. Gillespie reported.

Everett Ivan Kirby, of 202 Third street, Dowagiac, driving for Industrial Lumber of Niles, to Berrien General hospital with head cuts and possible injuries. His condition today was satisfactory. Gillespie said the accident may have occurred as the result of a chain snapping. A shift in the weight of the logs may have caused the truck to overturn on a curve, Gillespie said. Two Weeks' Toted: 30 Bad Checks SOUTH HAVEN Patricia Ann Fairchild, 48, of Potterville, was arraigned in Seventh district court here Wednesday on charges of writing approximately 30 insufficient checks in the South Haven area over a period of less than two weeks.
