IE POST-STANDARD, Syrtcutt, Saturday, April 196S faster Bunny Points Way The Syracuse Transit Corp, buses transporting children to Easter Egg Hunts Monday at Schiller and Burnet Parks will carry Easter Hunt signs. At both parks the hunts will begin at 2:30 p.m. and there will be more than 4,000 hidden eggs. Children going to Schiller Park may take the Oak bus and those going to Burnet may take the Avery or Milton buses. The hunt is being sponsored by the Municipal Recreation Commission, Self-Employed Can Suffer By Improper Tax Returns April 15 the deadline for filing income tax returns is portant for social security purposes also.

"Self-employed persons get social security credit for their earnings based on the tion in their income tax John Lackhart, district ager of the Syracuse Social Security Office, pointed out yesterday, According to Lockhart, the social security office has cases every month in which failure to report, or the filing of an incomplete or incorrect report of self- employment earnings, results in i a loss of benefits not only for the self-employed person, but also for his wife or widow and children. "Making out a correct and complete report cf self-employment earnings," he asserted, "is as important as making sure your life insurance company credits you with the premiums you pay." Lockhart offered the following hints to self-emploj'ed persons to make sure their reports are complete and correct: --Be sure your own correct 1 social security number is put on the Schedule SE part of the separate schedule C. It's best to check the number against your social security card itself. --Be sure to identify clearly the nature of the business, for example: real estate broker, retail grocer, etc. --Be sure to report, accurately all business receipts and make proper deductions for all business expenses, --If you have earned wages or salary from employment, in addition to self-employment income, be sure to report both.

Lockhart pointed out that, although the social security tax rate went up, beginning the first of this year, self-employed persons will pay the 1962 tax rate of 4.7 per cent on the first $4,800 of self-employment net income for the year 1952. Based on a person's earnings from self-employment and employment, social security benefits are paid to him and his dependents when he retires or becomes disabled, and to his survivors when he dies. Lockhart suggested that every self-employed person check on his social security account at least once every three years to make sure it is correct. A post card request form for checking the record is available at all social security offices. Minoa Firemen Elect Officers The Minoa Volunteer Fire Department has elected Britt Vannauker to serve his 29th consecutive year as fire chief of the unit, James Cooper was elected president Also elected were Peter Acquisto, vice president; Robert Carhart, treasurer, and James Lynch, secretary.
