Saturday at Bear Creek Church, the Rev. Eugene V. Hol- 1887 Gregory Bissen 1957 Gregory M. Bissen was born Oct. 19, 1887, in Nevada Township, the son of Nick Bissen and Eva Wieres.

He lived in Rose Creek for 42 years and the past year, moved to Austin Rt. 2. On Oct. 6, 1915, he was united in marriage with Louise Schmitz at Bear Valley, Wis. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1937.

On Nov. 12, 1947, he married Cecila Schmitz at Rose Creek. A farmer, Mr. Bissen was a member of the VFW Dads Club and Catholic Order of Foresters. He died at 8.

p.m. July at St. Olaf Hospital. Funeral services were held at 9 July 22, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rose Creek, Father Hasinski officiating.

Interment was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery with the Mayer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements: Pallbearers were members of of the VFW Dads Club, John O'Shaughnessy, Clarence Larson, Martin Phillips, Frank Cerney, Emil Prantner and Joe Kopet. Mr. Bissen is survived by his wife, Cecila; three sons, Raymond, Bernard and Benno of Austin; three daughters, Mrs. Joy Lastine (Veronica), Taopi, Mrs.

Bernard Wendel (Juletta), Chester, Iowa, and Mrs. Robert Davis (Barbara), Austin; 20 grandchildren; two brothers, John Bissen, Austin, and Nick Bissen, Rose Creek; a sister, Anna Schmitz, Bear Valley, nieces and nephews. Out-of town persons attending Obituaries the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Roessler Jr.

and Sandra Lynn, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Gruber and Debra, Gilbert Roessler and Paul, Madison, Mrs. Anthony Roessler Mr. and Mrs.

HE 3-3419 Deaths From Cancer Hit New lowa Mark DES MOINES in--Deaths from cancer reached a record high of 4,291 in Iowa in 1956, the State Health. Department's vital statistics division said today.

The disease was second of the leading causes of deaths in Iowa last year. Heart disease which took 10,315 lives was first. The year 1956 was the first with more than 10,000 heart deaths. In third place with 3,670 victims was cerebral hemorrhage, and in fourth was accidents, which took 1,632 lives, Including all traffic fatalities. The division said 11 out of every 20 deaths, or about 55 per cent, were from either heart disease or cancer.
