I have no plans for the future." Quinn, 37, an adventurer from Los Gatos, Calif., has been sailing his 45-foot ketch, the Neophyte, around the South Pacific for the last 30 months with all- girl crews. Before dawn Sunday the 4,00- ton coastal freighter Woomera ran the Neophyte down a mile outside the Sydney harbor, split the ketch in half and sank the forward section. Quinn and the three girls with him were rescued by the Woomera's lifeboat after half an hour in the water. "I still say girls make the best crew," said Quinn. "There was absolutely no panic." Quinn and his crew, Helena Anderson, 18, Hobart; Barbara Sodt, 29, Berwyn, 111.; and Jennifer Shadock, 22, of Tasmania, ] were treated for abrasions and Art Event Held At White House By FRANCES LEW1NE WASHINGTON (AP) - If8 Tune, and art is bustin' out all over the White House. It's even upstaging the President. From the East Room to the South Lawn, the mammoth Festival of the Arts has taken over for today. Props, costumes, musical instruments, sculpture, paintings and photographs are ir place and scores of performers are set to go on stage. Nothing like it has ever happened at the White House — or probably anywhere else for that matter. You could bump into Alexan der Calder's huge sculpture "Whales II" on the lawn, or Helen Hayes preparing to serve as mistress of ceremonies. A threesome from the cast ot "The Subject was Roses" was catching up on rehearsal time they missed Sunday night to get a Tony award for the best play of the year. All the White House was a stage for men and women of the arts at the invitation of President and Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson, opening the festival she called "a rich feast indeed," declared all of the art* "are warmly welcomed in this house." ) She gave a special salute to "the men and women who create all these wondrous things for our mind's pleasure and our soul's delight." She said in her prepared remarks they had "earned the gratitude of every American for the beauty, the meaning and the zest you are contributing to our lives." "There would be nothing for the rest of us to support if a very few did not make the personal sacrifices necessary for the arduous act of creativeness," the First Lady noted. The Johnsons returned from t» weekend at their Texas ranch to take part in the day-Ion? events at the White House that ranged from dramatic performances and readings on the stage of the East Room to jazz and sculpture on the South Lawn The festival eased into its 12 hour schedule with breakfast coffee and cake in the State Dining Room. 1857 FORD V-8, 2. door sedan, overdrive.
