School District YOG Counselors To Be Recruited A program to recruit and train over 2,000 counselors to help salvage the nation's disadvantaged youths has just been announced from Washington. 1 Applications are available at offices of the Michigan Employ* ment Security Commission. • Recruits must be college graduates and willing to receive special training at major universities for career jobs in Youth Opportunity Centers.-Spec i a I training courses will begin about July 6 for candidates who successfully pass tests that will be given at the Ironwood ME8C office on June 19. Some 187 of the proposed national network of 200 Youth Opportunity Centers have been announced by W. Wlllard Wirtz, Secretary of Labor. The centers will act as focal points for all governmental and community services to aid unemployed youth and are a part of the antipoverty program. Secretary Wirtz stressed the urgent need to recruit over 2,000 qualified men and women to serve in the centers' youth programs. Those selected will be given special training in counseling, advising, recruiting, and working with disadvantaged youth. To qualify, an applicant must be over 21 and a college graduate. Candidates also must possess, the interest, special aptitudes, motivation, and dedication necessary for this type of work.
