HOUSTON (AP) Oklahoma nose guard Tony Casillas and Oklahoma State defensive tackle Leslie O'Neal are among 12 players nominated for the 1985 Lombardi Award, honoring the nation's outstanding college footbal lineman. Four finalists will be selected Nov. 23 and the winner will be announced Dec. 5.

Other nominees: Iowa line CHAMPAIGN, 111. Michigan's final drive, which consumed nearly seven minutes before the critical fumble, was set up by a tough defensive pefor-mance. With Illinois facing third-and-8 at the Michigan 32, Mike Hammerstein smashed Trudeau to the turf for a nine-yard loss that forced the Illini to punt to the Wolverines. Illinois, playing before a Memorial Stadium crowd of 76,397, topped Michigan in nearly every key area of offense.

Trudeau completed 27 of 36 passes for 238 yards and the Illini gained 130 yards rushing. The game left Illinois and Michigan with 3-1-1 records in the Big Ten. Overall, the Wolverines are 6-1-1, while the Illini are 4-3-1. "I've never felt worse after a football game I'm just sick," said Illinois Coach Mike White. "They seemed ecstatic and I'm devastated, but our kids are resilient and they'll be back, ready to play against Iowa." The teams engaged in a defensive struggle throughout a scoreless first half, with White missing a 43-yard field goal and Michigan's Mike Gillette missing from 39 yards.

Gillette put the Wolverines ahead in the third quarter when he booted a 49-yard field goal, but No. 4 Michigan yard kick hit the crossbar and bounced the wrong way the final kick. "I think I did what I had to do," he said. "I'm really down, but I don't worry that it was all my fault" Michigan seemed to be in control on the previous drive, moving on the ground from its own 20 to the Illinois 9 before fullback Gerald White fumbled the ball to the mini's Bob Sebring. "Our offense would have won this game if we had not turned the ball over," said Michigan Coach Bo Schembechler.

"If we could have shut down their running game a little better, they wouldn't have gotten the field goal that they got." After the key Michigan turnover, Illinois quarterback Jack Trudeau marched his team down the field and into position for White's final kick. AUSTIN DERMATOLOGY CLINIC Michael H.
