WINCHESTER EVENING STAR Monday, January 15,1973 Obituaries Mrs. Leslie R. Shipley Mrs. Jessie Marie Shipley, 70, widow of Leslie Reid Shipley, of Bunker Hill, W. died Saturday in City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.

Va. Mrs. Shipley was born June 23, 1902, in Virginia, a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Lula Moulden Mason of Bunker Hill. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Rest.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ponn of Winchester, and Mrs. Zenia Mason and Mrs. Mabel Loy both of Martinsburg; two brothers, Edgar Mason of Darkesville, W. and Fred C.

Mrs. H.I. Walker Mrs. Fleta I. Walker, 79, of St.

Petersburg, died Saturday in the St. Petersburg Hospital. Mrs. Walker was born Dec. 26, 1893, at Harrisonburg, a daughter of the late Mr.

and Mrs. Monroe Wetzel. Her husband, H. I. Walker, preceded her in death.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Hefner, Mrs. Phyllis Karagianes and Miss Ella Mae Walker, all of St. Petersburg, Mrs. Maxine Walling of Washington, and Mrs.

Violet Lavery, Jr. of Leavenworth, a son, H. Irving Walker, Jr. of Rockville, a brother, George Wetzel of St. Louis, a sister, Mrs.

Tracy Thornett of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 o'clock in the Keller Cemetery, at Fishers Hill, by the Rev. David C. Derby. The body will arrive at the Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, tomorrow evening, where friends may call from 9 to 11 o'clock Wednesday morning.

Eaton Service A funeral service for Mrs. Odessa D. Eaton, 76, of 417 Highland who died Friday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital, was conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Omps Funeral Home by the Rev. Nathan Williamson.

Burial was in Fairview Cemetery near Gore. Pallbearers were Billy Thompson, George B. Whitacre, Basil Cooper, Cecil Eaton, Charles J. Renner, and Charles Oates. Mrs.

Robert M. Rodgers Mrs. Dona Mae Rodgers, 55, of 111 Aecomac Road, Front Royal, Hied Saturday in the Winchester Hospital. Mrs. Rodgers was born at Bluegrass on Oct.

11, 1917, a daughter of Mrs. Nannie Fleisher Harper, and the late Otto Harper. She was employed by the FMC Corporation in Front Royal for 26 years. Surviving with her mother are her husband, Robert M. Rodgers; a son, Robert M.

Rodgers III, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Joan R. Athey of Front Royal; two brothers, Roscoe Harper of Franklin, W. and Carl Harper of Ft. Worth, two sisters, Mrs.

Nola Mauzy of Hightown, and Mrs. Josephine Rexroad of Weyers Cave; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of the Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front rtoyal, by the Rev. Irving Johnson. Pallbearers were Stanley Brooks, Don Griffin, Dick Clark, Richard Barrett, Chuck Leadman, and Ward Myers.

Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal. Willie H. Clark Willie Hubert Clark, 74, of 33 W. Southwerk died Saturday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital. Mr.

Clark was born Jan. 18, 1897, in Warren County, a son of the late John A. and Katherine Cooper Clark. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church and a retired plumber. Surviving with his widow, the former Miss Bessie Edwards, are one daughter, Mrs.

Jason (Betty) Newsomeof Orlando, three grandchildren, Roger Foreman of Winchester, Mrs. Dawn Susan Kerns of Frederick County, and Darrell Simmons of Okinawa; two brothers, Charles Clayton Clark of Charles Town, W.Va., and Marvin Clark of Stephens City. Willa Dean Moore, 49, of Gainesboro, died yesterday in University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. Mrs. Moore was born in Scranton, on Jan. 24,1923, a daughter of Dallas and Frances Leuvirt Lucus Ewing. She was married to Gordon Moore.

A former beautician, she was a member of the Gainesboro United Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Paris, Ark. Surviving with her husband and parents are six children, Robert D. Dorrough of Wheaton, Billy Joe Dorrough of Hollywood, and Annette Lynn Dorrough, Athena Gail Moore, Walter Gordon Moore, and Donna Marie Moore, all at home; two brothers, Randall Ewing of Ft. Smith, and Herbert D. Ewing of Sacramento, three sisters, Mrs.

Ronalda D. Hixon of Fairfax, Mrs. Bagalya Wheeler of Greenwood, and Miss Robbie L. Ewing of Summit, S.D.; and two grandchildren, Chontelle Lynn Dorrough and Christina Noel Dorrough. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Philip Barnhart, 81, of 408 Hollingsworth Drive, who died Saturday at Newton D. Baker Veterans Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va., will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Boyd Memorial Chapel, First Presbyterian Church, by the Rev.

James R. Jackson and the Rev. G. Raymond Womeldorf. Mr.

Barnhart was born April 10, 1891, in Dayton, a son of the late John H. and Rebecca Wenger Barnhart. He was married to the late Mrs. Emma Gardiner Barnhart, and was employed by the Virginia Employment Commission prior to his retirement in 1961. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was secretary of the McFadden Bible Class.

Mr. Barnhart was a graduate of Shenandoah College; a veteran of World War and served as a post commander of the Major Mosby Barracks, Veterans of World War charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2123. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club; the American Association of Retired Shenandoah College Alumni Association; Charlie Rouss Fire and was active in the Veterans Administration Mrs. Jack Roberts Mrs. Rose Roberts of Rankin, formerly of Flint Hill, died in hospital in Rankin on Thursday.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Rappahannock County. Her husband, the Rev. Jack Roberts, preceded her in death. She is survived by five daughters; a number of nieces and nephews; and several grandchildren including Mrs.

Charlene Fitzhugh and Mrs. Roberta Jackson, both of Front Royal. A funeral service will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Macedonia Baptist Church at Flint Hill by the Rev. James Price. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Flint Hill.

The body is at the Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. Mrs. Lewis Sonner Mrs. Esther Mae Sonner, 77, of Rt. 1, Strasburg, died yesterday in the Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital'at Woodstock.

Mrs. Sonner was born May 24, 1895, at Toms Brook, a daughter of the late William F. and Elizabeth Lenora Ridenour Smith. She was a retired manager of the Strasburg Elementary School Cafeteria, and a member of the United Brethren Church in Toms Brook, and American Legion Auxiliary, Post No. 66, Strasburg.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Sonner; a daughter, Mrs. Roger Ramey, and a son, Louie Van Sonner, both of Strasburg; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie S. Rau of Ijamsville, and Mrs. George Voluntary Service at Newton (Helen) Ritenour of Toms Brook; Baker VA Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock in the chapel of the Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, by the Rev. Jacob Mayer Friends may call at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Hines, Stanley Wright, Billy Hottle, James Racey, John A. Copp, and William Walton. Her nephews will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Two Hurt In Accidents Two people were taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital today by the Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad following separate accidents, a squad spokesman said. According to the spokesman, Pearl Buckhart, 64, of Mt. Falls was taken to the hospital after an accident on State Rt. 608 about half of a mile from Rt. 50 at 8:15 a.m.

She was treated at the hospital, then released, a hospital spokesman said. After another accident at about 10:30 a.m. a woman as yet unidentified, was taken to the hospital. The extent of her injuries had not been determined by late morning, a hospital spokesman said. She was injured in a crash on Rt.

522 North, the rescue squad spokesman said. Shepherd Service Mrs. Rita Anderson Shepherd, 82, of Warrenton, died Friday at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Shepherd was born at in Delaplane, on March 14, 1890, daughter of the late John and Marie Bowie Anderson.

She married Newton M. Brooke in 1912. She was a member of the Warrenton Presbyterian Church, the Black Horse Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the King's Daughters. She is survived by two sons, Newton M. Brooke, Jr.

of Warrenton, and Richard N. Brooke of Front Royal; three grandsons; and three great- grandsons. A funeral service was conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, by the Rev. J. Richard Winters.

Burial was in the family plot in the Warrenton Cemetery. The body is at the Jones at the home of Louie Van Sonner on Orchard Strasburg, and at the same home prior to the service tomorrow. Cabin Entered At Siler The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating the break- in and entry of a cabin at Siler which was reported at 1 p.m. yesterday.

According to investigating officer, Lt. Charles Mcllwee, the cabin owned by Margaret Hahn of Chevy Chase, had been broken into sometime since mid- October. Entry was gained, Mcllwee said, by breaking out a pane of glass in the door. The cabin was ransacked, according to Mcllwee, but nothing was reported missing. No Major Damage In Weekend Fires Winchester firemen said today that neither of two fires they put out over the weekend caused any major damage.

Saturday at 3:15 p.m., city volunteers extinguished a grass fire about 200 feet west of George according to City Fire In spector S.R. Dyke. Yesterday they were called at to the Lady Esther Grill on S. Loudoun St. to put out a small grease fire on a grill, Dyke said.
