Huff, Mission, National Music Week was observed Thursday aftettodfi, May 4, by the San Saba Study Club when the group met at the Gold Room of Ranchmen's Tower Hotel for a "Quilting Party," with Mrs. Joe S. Turner and Mrs. Alvin A. Stewart as co-hostesses.

"The Quiltihg Party," ah inal skit with musical numbers by American composers was written and directed by Mrs. Trussell. Mrs. C. Oliver gave the prologue for The Quilting Party which took place, May 4, 1899, in San Saba.

The setting for the special meeting was the reception room in the home of Mrs, Joe S. Turner. Members in appropriate costumes for 1899, chattered and stitched while they planned a Variety Show and Bazaar for the jenefit of an orphanage. Following a welcome by Mrs. Turner, the president, Mrs.

Clyde led in the planning for )he Benefit and had responses by committee chairmen, Mmes. Reuben Ashley, W. A. Martin, Henry Trotter, W. C.

Dofflemyer, S. G. Boynton, W. L. Owen, H.

V. Felts and Mrs. Werden Scott. Mrs Trussell, program chairman for the Benefit presented Mrs Mattie Howard, elocutionist, who read one of the Sonnets from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, "How Do 1 Love iheeY" She presented next a group of musicians and singers, from the Chaminade Music Club, "The Shrinking Violets" Misses Neil Sloan, Lucille Bondy, Charlotte Coleman, Mmes. Thelma Arny Rector and Mrs.

L. T. Smith, accompanist and pianist. Miss Sloan sang the solo, "A Bird in a Gilded Cage;" Mrs. Smith played "Turkey in the Straw," The Shrinking Violets sang "Scarlet Ribbons, Grandfather's and With V.

tfelts accompanist; 'America, My Old Kentucky Home, and Now The Day Is Over, were sung by every one, after which Mrs. Boynton read the words of Home Sweet Home. Amusing anecdotes and stories were told after which a tiii peddler, in the person of Mrs. Robinson, arrived creating much excitement in the final episode of the skit. Refreshments in keeping with theme of the occasion were served from a tea table, covered with an ecru imported embroidered cloth over spring green and censed with an jermanent ivory color roses and foliage.

Mrs. presided at the silver service and Mrs. Scott served gingerbread topped with whipped cream. Mrs. J.
