THE SAUNA JOURNAL MONDAY. MAY 5. 1997 7 V SPOTLIGHT Landmark sign is moved A landmark neon sign for Hough Piano and Organ's former store at 245 S. Santa Fe has recently come to an end. Rules governing signs for downtown have changed. The large flashing neon signs are no longer permitted. Charles Hedges, founder of Hedges Neon in 1961 erected the large musical note sign for Hough. Before that, a smaller sign had been used from another building at 114 S. Seventh where they began their music business. Hough said that a customer mentioned, "For such a large store you certainly have a small sign". Nancy Hedges, president of Hedges sign Co., another continuing family business, moved the sign. Following a fire, Hough is now located at 128 S. Santa Fe. Hough Piano and Organ sign Is removed from the store's former location at 245 S.
