Woods, son of Mr. and Mrs. Syke Woods of Red Oak, Iowa May 1 at an afternoon ceremony a Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rev. Jerald Thury officiated.

The convention was planned and organized by Mrs. Sheila Pederson of Mitchell and Mrs. Rita Burke of Loomis. Following a workshop presented by Blue Shield April 30, the executive board met. A spring breakfast and registration was held Saturday, followed by the business meeting with President Eleanor Tinsley of Rapid City presiding.

Gerald Oairl presented a film "Diabetes Unknown and Fred Clemets, Case in Point," Merton Tice discussed "Medical Legal and the Medical Secretary." Sheriff Lyle Swenson of Davison County gave a speech on drugs and drug abuse. Highlight of the convention was tihe talk by Mrs Marie Young, national president of the American Association of Medical Assistants, from Indianapolis, Ind. Her topic was "Public Relations. 1 Charles Carl of the state division, sanitary engineering was guest speaker at the banquet at the Brig. He talked on water pollution.

Mrs. Marie Young installed officers, Mrs. Sheila Pederson of Mitchell, Mrs; Joan Cleveland of Siqux Fails, president and president elect; Burke of Sioux Falls, recording sec retary; Rita Grohs of Mitchell corresponding secretary; Elea nor Tinsley of Rapid City, treasurer. Marks Church Met May 6 with Mary Gall presiding and leading prayers. The Rev. Stephen Schreder gave a short talk. A Mothers Day program was held and flowers were presented to the mothers. Games were played and unch was served by Lorene Soulek and her group.

KYN CLUB WOOD Mrs. Edith Carter was hostess to KYN (Know Your Neighbor) Extension Club May 12 at her home. Judy Sherwood reported on child mental health. Officers were re-elected. Judy Sherwood gave a report on the District meeting at Winner.

The county luncheon was held at White River May 13. Florence and Mary Ellen Dimond will report on the new fabrics lesson June 16 at the latters home. VINE BRANCHES NEW HOLLAND The Vine and The Branches was the theme of the Calvinette mother and daughter banquet at the church basement. Mrs. Merenes, Cal-inette director of Grand Rapids, was guest speaker.

Mrs. John H. Feenstra gave the toast to the daughters and Rosemarie Hubers, the toast to the mothers. The Harmony Workers prepared the banquet for 150. WOMANS CLUB PLATTE The Platte Worn-! ans Club met May 10 with 17 members and a guest present.

Wilson Asfora and Jose Rizzo, Brazilian exchange students, discussed their country. Mrs. Larry Ellingson named committees for the year. SENIOR TEA PLATTE The senior tea was held at the Parish Hall of St. Peters Catholic Church, with tihe Altar society as hostesses.

All senior girls, their teachers, and teachers wives were present. Margaret Haines talked on her hobby of making ceramics and displayed her work. Peach and amber, class colors, featured decorations. Chairman of the event were Lucille Mills and Agnes Hegg. On the committee were Mae Doering, Joan Kramer and Gladys Paulson.

Magil Lucas and Helen Benda poured and served punch. PROGRESSIVES LAKE ANDES The Pro gressive Club met May 12 at the home of Mrs. Harriet Holcomb with Mrs. Edwin Jensen as as sistant hostess. Bridge a played with high scores going to Mrs.

Wayne Nelsen and Mrs Alex Williamson. Mrs. Jess Maruska conducted the meet group will meet again in September at her home. VESPER CHAPTER WESSINGTON SPRINGS Vesper Chapter of the Order Eastern Star, met at the Ma sonic Hall May 11. Mrs.

Ted Eagle, worthy matron', presided Mr. and Mrs. John Cashman were welcomed back from Texas. Mr. and Mrs.

Glen Salmen were guests of the chapter. Mrs Oscar Hasz has received Grand Chapter honorary mem berstaip from Missouri. 3elbert Bender, Mrs. Raymond aird, Mrs. Leslie Boehmer, Mrs. James Gannon and Mrs. Brisbin.

F. Colfix will be hos- and Mrs. Brisbin, co-hos- esses at the next meeting. OPTIMISTIC PRIMATES FULTON The Optimistic Primates 4H Club met at the 3onald Blumenberg home May 6. Peggy O'Neill presided.

Pam Easton was a guest. Camp and club picnic were discussed. Judging was conducted and the wastebaskets completed. Mrs. Blumberg and Brenda served lunch.

Miss Linda Dertien, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reinder Dertien of Avon, became the bride of Thomas Eugene Foster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Foster of Sioux Falls, May 1 at an afternoon service at the First Presbyterian Chr.rch of Avon.

The Rev. Charles Kruse officiated at the double ring service. A reception was held in the church dining hall. The bride was graduated from Avon High School and South Dakota Hairstyling Academy and is employed as a beautician in Sioux Falls. The bridegroom, a graduate of Washington High School in Sioux Falls, served four years in the Navy and is employed at Elevated Tank Company in Sioux Falls where the couple will reside.

MUNCHIN' CRUNCHIN' GREGORY The annual One O'Olock Munch in Orumchin' Luncheon of the Womens Society of Christian Service was held at the fellowship room of the United Methodist Church May 6. Mrs. Estalla Taylor and Mrs. James Tlustos were in charge the program on prayer and self denial.

In charge of the event were Mrs. Herman Vanden- Bosch, Mrs. Noel Picknall and Mrs. Leonard Grenoble. Mrs.

Lawrne Blake presided. The fee and Jill Ekroth to the Schoo of Missions at Dakota Wesleyan University July 12-16. Members may also attend. DELEGATES LISTED GREGORY Delegates named to the state convention at Madison June 6-8 at the May meeting of the Auxiliary to the Rosebud Barracks were Mrs Ed Meyer, Mrs. Mary Elliott Mrs.

Mae Whitley, and Mrs James Tlustos. Alternates are Mrs. George Whiting, Mrs Bertha Eisenbraun and Minnii Mayer. Mrs. Tlustos presided Mrs.

Mae Whitley received the door prize. Hostesses at the social hour with the Barracks were Mrs. Meyer and Mrs Tlustos. COMMITTEES for t)he Golf and Bridge Club were named by Mrs. Robert Truman, president.

They are Mrs. Louise Welch and Mrs. Leo Grady, bridge; Mrs. Charles Rasmussen, Mrs. Henry Loe, Mrs.

Reuben Hubbart and Mrs. Vincent Ptrotsch, golf; Mrs. Duane Miller, Mrs. Oscar Fosheim, Mrs. Dennis Callies, Mrs.

Roger womem summer activities; and Mrs. Dick Robbins and Mrs. Leo Mengenhausen, membership. The womens golf handicap has been set for June 2, with players io have three scores posted before this dale. ALPHA DELTA GREGORY Mrs.

Elmer Dobesh was in charge of the meeting of Alpha Delta Sorority at the Crystal Room of the Corner Cafe May 8. Ethel O'Bryan presented the prayer. Plans were made to attend the state ADK convention in Sioux Falls May 15. Helen Sterrett submitted a page from the chapter scrapbook for the state presi dent's scrapbook. Marcos Gomez of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, discussed his country.

He received a gift from the group. Meetings of ADK will resume in September. GREGORY WF GREGORY Members of the Womens Fellowship of the United Church of Christ met at the social room of the church May 5 with Mrs. William Wonnenberg in charge. The Plymouth Guild was invited to be guests at the June 2 meeting at the church social room.

Mrs. Brunz presented devotions. Mrs. Oswald Kaupp gave the Bible study lesson on Romans. 'Plans were made for the choir appreciation supper May 20.

Mrs. Mae Whitley served lunch. Tuesday, May it, 1671 Mitchell Dally Republic, Mail May id, 1071 7 July Bride Mr. and Mrs. tvtn Bartels of Mitchell announce the engagement of their daughter, Lilas Marie, to Larry Dean Robinson, son of Mr.

and Mrs. William C. Robinson of Downs, Kan. Miss Bartels was graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1970 and teaches at Newcastle, Wyo. Her fiance, a graduate of Fort Hays State College, received his masters degree from the University of Wyoming and is employed as a range conservationist by the United States Forest Service at Newcastle.

A July wedding is planned. Johnson reported on the spring council meeting. Plans were made to attend the spring tea at Bridgewater. Plans were made for the Christmas display, district meeting and 1972 lessons. Gladys Schimmel gave a lesson "New Trends in Home Furnishings." Mrs.

Joyce Bornhorst joined the club, group will sponsor Barbara Dur-C-reen, Mrs. Ray Feldhaus. SPRINGS WCTU WESSINGTON SPRINGS The Womans Christian Temperance Union met with Mrs. Gladys Dahl and Miss Blanche McDermott at their home April 26. Mrs.

Burton Short presided. Posters of the Jerauld County WCTU poster contest are on display in the windows of the Habich store. Mrs. William Schwabauer reported on dangers of drugs and alcohol. HARMONY SPENCER Harmony Extension Club met at the home of Lois Johnson April 20.

Mrs. ROYAL NEIGHBORS SPENCER Members of the local Royal Neighbor camp, Mary Wilson, Eva Dietz, Edith Simmons, Florence Kellogg and Lois Johnson, and Mrs. Edna Holt of Brookings, past state supervisor, attended the South Central District meeting at Lake Andes April 23. Bpnesteel will be hostess group in 1972. JUNIOR HOMEMAKERS BRIDGEWATER The Junior Homcmakers 4-H Club met at the home of Trudi Hofer.

Susan Glanzer led the pledges and presided. Trudi Hofer was named secretary. Mrs. Sam Pollmann Jr. assisted the girls with knitting and making pin cushins.

Trudi Hofer demonstrated making unbaked cookies. Lunch was served by the hostess and her mother.
