Sandra Haynie frittered five of a69s seven stroke lead on the last six holes, but held off JoAnn Carner with a par on the 18th Sunday to win the $50,000 LPGA Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club by two strokes. Miss Haynie, who now has won two straight tournaments, started the final round at four under par, holding a single stroke lead over Sandra Palmer. The 31-year old pro from Dallas, Tex., went ahead by as much as six strokes when she blrdied the 11th hole to go elght-under-par. But, for the first time in the tournament, she was inconsistent, bogeylng the 13th and the 16th and carding a doublebogey six on the tough 17th hole to lead charging Mrs. Carner by just two strokes. A routine par on 18 gave Miss Haynie her third consecutive even par round of 73 to go with Shu Victor INGLEWOOD, Calif. (UP1) — Aiding champion Bill Shoemaker scored his 102nd victory in a race worth $100,000 or more Sunday when he booted, Tree Of Knowledge to a two length victory in the 35th running of the $150,000 Hollywood Gold Cup at Hollywood Park. an opening day 69 for a four- under-par total of 288. The victory gave Miss Haynie a $7,000 payday and winnings of $12,700 in the past two weeks.
