REDDY Dowdy, assistant superintendent for business services, testified that when he asked for documentation to explain what the money was used for, credit card statements provided by Aldridge appeared to be doctored. Herlon Cannon, the district's financial analyst who handles internal audits, testified she noticed the handwritten checks last February during an audit. Defense attorneys for Aldridge and Bell questioned whether the school district had any authority over the account. The account is for the school's robotics team, an award-winning team that is a result of a partnership between the school and Delphi Automotive. Milton Henry, Aldridge's attorney, said the Delphi account was not governed by the same rules that apply to other accounts.

Contact LORI HIGGINS at 248-591-5625 or higginsiSfreepress.com. By LORI HIGCINS FKlt PRESS STAFF WRITER Four checks, all for between $1,000 and $1,880, raised red flags in the Pontiac School District because they were handwritten and had no receipts to support them. The checks, which totaled $5,580, were written in September 1999 by Willie Aldridge, former principal at Pontiac Central High School, to her sister, Bernice Bell, 52, of Auburn Hills. Both were charged last September with multiple counts of embezzlement for allegedly stealing from the high school. Ald-ridge, 57, of Pontiac, has since been suspended with pay.

Assistant Oakland County Prosecutor Edward Cibor tried to establish during a preliminary examination Thursday in 50th District Court in Pontiac that the money from the checks was not used for school purposes.
