Through the National Gallery of Art in Washington you may purchase sculpture reproductions finished as closely as possible to resemble the original objects. Statuettes of either a Flemish Angel Gabriel or a Venetian child angel, both 15th century, both mounted on wooden bases may be yours to give for as low as $5.75. You may find a group of cast-bronze medals and plaquettes mounted on velvet or wood, derived from 15th century Italian originals, and priced from $4 to $15. There are many prints from 35 cents and up. The catalogues are free, and ask for the Christmas Card catalogue, as well, if you want to send cards that are both artistic and different this year. The most famous museum in the country, New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, busy celebrating its Centennial, is putting out its biggest catalogue ever, and the cost is still 25 cents. The Metropolitan has set up its own studio and workroom reproducing all sorts of things from its collection. Glass and silver items as well as sculpture. One may buy a brooch copied from Catalan originals from the 14th century for $10. Glassware starts at under $2. Silver pieces from $3.50 and up into the hundreds. In addition, one may buy color prints from 25 cents and up. The report states that one may purchase reproductions at many prices, some rather high, but remember you set your own scale starting with a quarter.
