THE SALINA JOURNAL LIFE SUNDAY, MAY 4, 1997 B3 MILESTONES ON WEDDING DAY Sears and Ed Grosser Myrtle Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grosser GRACE LEHMAN Golden jubilee to honor Grossers of Chapman The three children of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grosser, 601 Stone .Lane, Chapman, KS 67431, are , to fete their parents with a 2 to 4 .p.m. open house May 11 at Chap'. man's United Methodist Church in celebration of the couple's 50th wedding anniversary. Entertaining for all friends and relatives will be Richard of ; Stockton, Calif., Beth Palmateer of Salina and Jean Gobber of Chapman. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The marriage of Grosser and the former Myrtle Sears was solemnized May 10, 1947, in Salina. They since have lived mostly in Chapman. Grosser taught at Linn and Chapman high schools, then retired ater 31 years with the Chapman State Bank. His wife is a homemaker. They request no gifts. ON WEDDING DAY — Doris Deschand and Everett Shroyer Mr. and Mrs. Everett Shroyer Shroyers to celebrate their golden anniversary A family dinner is planned today in rural Parkerville in celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Shroyer of rural Miltonvale. . The couple have three sons, and their wives: • Dr. Terry and Jeanie of Parkerville; Frank and Doris of Beloit and Bob and Naidene of Silver celebration planned for Riffels ' All friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Riffel of Hope are invited to a 2 to 4 p.m. 25th wedding anniversary open house for them May 11 at the Woodbine United Methodist Church. Mrs. Riffel is the former Jane S wisher. Hosts are Riffel's mother, Josie, of Hope, and the couple's sisters ; and brothers, and their families. •, : The Riffels were wed May 20, 1972, in Salina and since have lived at their present address, • 1767 1400 Avenue, Hope, KS 67451. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. The couple farmed and owned North Gate Kennels. They now are retired. Card shower slated for Grace Lehman A card shower is planned May 11, in observance of the 90th birthday of Grace Lehman, 2662 27th Avenue, Gypsum, KS 67448. The honoree has three children, and their spouses: Carrol and Earlene Marston of Roxbury; Bill and Maxine Clark of Wichita; and Jerry and Loetta of Aurora, Mo. There are nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, six step- great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Born Anna Grace Groves May 11,1907, in Beaver County, Okla., the celebrant has lived most of her adult life in the Roxbury area where she has been a homemaker. She married Earl N. Lehman in 1927 in Simpson. Together, the couple farmed for many years, then papered and painted houses. He died in 1993. 80th card shower for Bus Jennings Wednesday, May 7, is the 80th birthday of Salinan Clarence "Bus" Jennings, 123 E. Beloit. A card shower is planned for him, as well as a family gathering that evening in the home. Jennings and his wife, the former Nathalie Sampson, have four living children: Gary and Richard of Salina; Connie Fender of Las Vegas; and Patricia Gruber of Springfield, Mo. Another son, Robert, died in 1984. There are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Born May 7,1917, near Niles, the celebrant has lived in Salina since 1945. He and his wife were married in 1937 in Bennington. Jennings retired as a floor sanding contractor, then worked another 10 years in the carpet cleaning business.
