Eau Claire. died on Wednesday. March 5, 2003. He was born on September 17, 1931, to the late Helen and Arthur Klaus in La Crosse. Wis.

William graduated from Logan High School in 1949. and served in the Korean War. He married Janice Blank on July 29, 1950. in La Crosse. He graduated from Western Wisconsin Technical College with an associate's degree in accounting, a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees from UW-La Crosse.

and a master's degree from UW-Stout. Janice and Bill lived in La Crosse. Columbia, Superior, Wis. and Eau Claire. He was employed by United States Postal Service as postmaster MSC manager.

William is survived by his wife. Janice: son. William (Joann) of Eau Claire; and daughters, Susan Guanella (Joel) of Eau Claire and Patricia Hanson (Larry) of Burnsville. three grandsons. Matthew and Joshua Hanson of Burnsville and William "Billy" Klaus of Eau Claire: two granddaughters, Amy and Jill Klaus and his future grandson-in-law Mark Garrison; his favorite companion Sam, his dog, and the grandpets.

He will be sadly missed by all his foreign exchange students that he loved as his own. His brother, George Klaus: and sisters. Patricia Johnson. Jackie Wilson and Spring Klaus; many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews also survive him. His parents; and two brothers, Bruce Klaus and Arthur Klaus preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1310 Main Street, Eau Claire. with Reverend Gary Sahs officiating. Burial will be at the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park in La Crosse. Friends and family may call on Friday, March 2003.

Harris, 68, of Stillwater, died on March 4, 2003, at Lakeview She was born in Whitehall, on April 9, 1934, the daughter of Palmer and Esther Eide of Strum. Wis. She is survived by her daughters, Faith (Tom) Hammang, Hope (Brad) Pederson, Joy (Jim) Montgomery, Heidi (Tom) Walraven; grandchildren, Nathan and Eric Hammang, Lindsey and Corey Pederson, Hannah and Rachel Montgomery and Cole Walraven; sisters, Carolyn (Dean) Boehne, Marie (Jim) Bremer; one niece; two nephews; one great-niece; and two great-nephews.

Mueller, 98, Chippewa Manor Nursing Home, Chippewa Falls, and formerly of 912 James Eau Claire, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

She was born in the town of Lincoln on May 1, 1904, the daughter of Johann and Auguste (Patzwald) Zimmerman III. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Fall Creek. Amanda married Walter R. Mueller on January 30, 1927, at Epiphany Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church since their marriage and was a member of the Ladies Society. They first farmed in the town of Washington where she loved tending to her gardens and later at their home of many years in Eau Claire. Survivors include six daughters, Gloria (Wayne) Porter of Strum, Elaine (Larry) Lires of Orem, Utah, Lavone (Gordon) Stalheim of Hixton, Marlys (David) Bjorklund of Strum, Beverly (Charles) Clemons of the town of Ludington and Carolyn (Daniel) Hanson of Menomonie: 21 grandchildren: 36 great -grandchildren; 4 great -greatgrandsons; sister-in-law, Laurena Mueller of Eau Claire: three half sisters-in-law, lone Nelson and Delores Mueller of Eau Claire, and Kathleen Mueller of Brackett; two half brothers-in-law. Leonard of North Maplewood, and Rolland (Joan) of Minnetonka, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in September of 1999; son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Loretta Mueller; three sisters, Helen Hehl, Adela Zimmerman and Olga Gonitzke; and two brothers, August and Reinhard Zimmerman.

Her family appreciates the wonderful care Amanda received from the staff at Chippewa Manor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Epiphany Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick C. Sauder officiating. Burial will be in St.

Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Clear Creek. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at LenmarkGomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Myrtle Roetter DURAND Myrtle R. Roetter, age 88, of Durand died on March 4, 2003, at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.

Myrtle was born on August 2, 1914, the daughter of William and Bertha (Vinning) Snider. She was born and raised in the town of Eau Galle, Dunn County. She married Elmer "Rube" Smith January 13, 1931. They later divorced. Myrtle then married Ronald "Ole" Roetter in 1955.

Myrtle and Ole lived in several places throughout the area. Her husband Ole passed away in 1989. Myrtle has been a resident the Oakview Care Center for the past seven years. Myrtle is survived by five daughters, May (Gordon) Delong of Plum City, Barbara Sperger of Durand, Neva Hutter of Eau Galle, Karen (Bernard) Fredrickson of Plum City and Carol (Dick) Bignell of Arkansaw; 32 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren, seven greatgreat -grandchildren; 13 step greatgrandchildren; four step great -greatgrandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bud Roetter of Mondovi; three sis- Feb. 14.

Saturday at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church in rural Holcombe. Friends may call a half-hour ters-in-law, Elaine Rud of Mondovi, Sally (Allen) Scott of Neillsville and Janice Williams of Everett, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ole; one daughter, Norma McRoberts; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; two sisters; and four brothers. Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m.

Saturday at the Pondview Cafe in Plum City. Dan Richardson will officiate. Arrangements by the Rhiel Funeral Home, Durand. Glen Nergaard the first "Brothers Three" restaurant in the Chippewa Valley. Shortly after opening the "Brothers Three" in Eau Claire he left his younger (the middle) brother, Keith, at the helm and headed to Sarasota, to retire with his wife, Joyce (Molfese) Nergaard, and his son, Scott Nergaard.

After 28 years of marriage, Glen lost Joyce to breast cancer on October 16, 1990. Following her death, Glen went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). He found this work very rewarding, but still missed the place he considered home: The Chippewa Valley. He became an official "snowbird," spending his summers in Wisconsin and his winters in Florida. Glen is survived by his mother, Lois P.

Brebach-Nergaard of North Port, his brother, Keith (Sharon) Nergaard of Chippewa Falls, youngest brother, Dale of Marinette, daughter, Kim (David) Walker of Eau Claire; son, Scott (Annie) Nergaard of North Port, five grandchildren, Gene Hodsdon, a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Kari, Joseph and Kaycee Walker of Eau Claire and Brandon Nergaard of Eau Claire. A celebration of his life will be held at Roberson's Funeral Home in Port Charlotte, Fla. Glen will be encrypted with his wife, Joyce, at Rest Lawn Gardens in Port Charlotte. Glen Nergaard, age 64, part-time resident of Eau Claire, expired peacefully in his North Port, home on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, after a six-year battle with chronic lymphatic leukemia (CLL). Glen moved to Chippewa Falls from Chicago in 1973, and opened born on November 9, 1924, in Durham, Maine, the daughter of Harold and Jennie Booker.

1 Lydia Passow Lydia Helen Passow, 78, of Eau Claire, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at her home. Lydia was Robert Gordon and Sara Stage, Eau Claire, daughter, Terina (Gordon), Feb. 16. Kirk and Stephanie Sorensen, Eau Claire, daughter, Hailey Victoria, Feb. 16.

SHORTELL, Vernon, 103, formerly of the Hannibal area died today at King Veterans Home in Waupaca, Wis. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley, with burial in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thorp. Friends may call an hour before services at the funeral home. Lydia was raised as a Quaker. She graduated I from Lisbon Falls High School in Maine.

She proudly served as a member of the Navy WAVES from 1945 to 1947. She attended North Central College, in Naperville, Illinois, with a major in psychology and graduated in June of 1951. She married Paul George Passow in September of 1951. Lydia is survived by three children; Hugh "Paco" and wife Marcella Edmund of Eau Claire, Faye of Minneapolis and Tara of Sun Prairie; grandchild, Noah Vetter of Sun Prairie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rowena; her husband, Paul; and her youngest son, Glen.

Lydia was very creative and enjoyed writing books and poetry, painting, traveling and working on genealogy projects. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as regent from 1997 to 1999. She also was a member of the Mayflower Society and was able to trace her lineage back to eleven of the original passengers. She also served as Chair of the Genealogical Research Society of Eau Claire. She will be missed, most especially for her quick wit and cheerful outlook, by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Chapel Heights. United Methodist Church, 300 E. Hamilton Eau Claire, with Pastor Richard Strait officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

(Dregney) Yuhas, 40, of Mondovi, passed away Monday March 3, 2003, at her home in Mondovi after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 25, 1962, in Mondovi to James and Bernice (Rud) Dregney. Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Valley of the Shepherd Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Michael Isaacson officiating. Burial will be at the Modena Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi or on Friday for one hour before the service at the church. Ronald Lien Ronald H. Lien, 68, formerly of Eau Claire, died on March 4, 2003, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Norma LinkLien. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Loretta; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Atter; siblings, Delores (Douglas) Kohnke, Charles (Carol), Audrey Kalibreier, and Dean (Prysilla); many nieces, nephews; relatives and friends.
