Myrtle E. Swenson died February 2, 2002, in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where she resided since the fall of 1995. with her niece. Betty Verheyn and Betty husband, David. For approximately 50 years prior to moving to Florida.

she lived in Whitehall. Wisconsin. Myrtle Slette was born in Vernon County to Morton and Anna Slette on March 8, 1908. After graduating from Blair High School, she worked at Hanson's Clothing Store and the Whitehall Clinic. She graduated from Fairview School of Nursing in Minneapolis, as a Registered Nurse.

and did private Duty Nursing i in Minneapolis and Miami Beach for three years. After returning to Madison, she worked at the Student Infirmary for Dr. Nellwood and at the Mark Nesbit Clinic. Minneapolis, Minn. She volunteered as an Army Nurse, was inducted at Camp McCoy and was transferred to Camp Ellis for American and German soldiers.

She was promoted to Est Lieutenant before leaving with the 177th Evacuation Hospital to serve in France. Germany and Austria. She was the recipient of two bronze medals. Upon returning to Madison. she married Wm.

Kenneth Swenson, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. in 1946. A son. Mart William. was born to them in 1951.

NAUS, Robert 62, formerly of the town of Edson, died Sunday at Lakeside Nursing Rehabilitation, rural Chippewa Falls. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott. with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in the town of Edson.

10 years, and night nurse at Trempealeau County Hospital for two years. Preceding her in death, were her parents, Morton and Anna Slette: husband, Wm. Kenneth Swenson; sisters, Josephine, Letty, Lillian, Claire and Velva: brothers. Oswald. Kenneth, Otto and Alf.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mart and Mary Swenson; and grandchildren, Evan and Angela Swenson of Eau Claire. Wisconsin; special niece. Betty Verheyn of Gulf Breeze, Florida: and other nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank her niece, Betty Verheyn, for her wonderful care and love demonstrated to her, as well as Betty's husband David, her personal care givers, friends, doctors and nurses. Myrtle will be cremated in Florida.

A memorial service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Whitehall, Wisconsin, with burial in Lincoln Cemetery, will be scheduled for a later date. Myrtle will proudly be remembered as a kind. compassionate, warm, loving person, who always thought of the well-being of others before herself. Her focus in life was helping her family, friends and those in need. She was truly a blessing.

Her beautiful smile and warm friendly way will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. We wish her peace and God's blessing. Sandra Babbitt SOMERSET Sandra Ann Babbitt. 65, of Somerset died Monday.

February 4, 2002. at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born June 9. 1936. the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Sahr) Lawrence in Osceola.

Wisconsin. She graduated from Altoona High School in Altoona. Wisconsin. On March 19, 1955. she was married to Ronald K.

Babbitt in Altoona. Sandra worked as a secretary for Control Data. now Quorum, until her illness prevented her from working. She is survived by her husband. Ronald of Somerset; children, Bambi J.

Babbitt of Somerset. Tami J. Ricei and husband. Jim of St. Paul.

David Dolloff David N. Dolloff. 54. of Eau Claire passed away Monday. February 4.

2002. He was born March 6. 1947. to Nesbit and Jacqueline (Poch) Dolloff in Wausau. Wisconsin.

David married Susan Smith on July 23. 1978. in Durand. Wis. He attended Wausau East High School.

He also went to St. Olaf College. receiving a BS degree in Biology. He went to Wausau Technical College two years for Computer Operator. He worked at Dadeo Data.

Herman was born in the town of Clear Creek. May 21, 1917, the son of Claus and Wilhelmina (Straschinski) Pape. He married Eleanor (Green) Wilbur on July 1. 1968. in Minnesota.

During his life. he farmed. worked at Presto, Walter's Brewery and retired from Bush Brothers Co. in Augusta. Herman enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He liked to tinker and could fix just about anything. Herman was a huge Braves fan. Survivors include two stepsons, James (Joan) Wilbur of Fall Creek and Gary Wilbur of Clam Lake: his grandchildren. Jodi (John) Wittwer of Fall Creek. Laurie Wilbur of Denver, Kim (Mitch) Peloquin of Stanley and Pam (Dan) Hudson of Eau Claire; a sister.

Freida Crogg of Seattle. Washington: nine and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: his wile. Eleanor: his grandchildren. Julie Wilbur and Russel Wilbur: five sisters: and two brothers.

In Brief Truck falls through ice on Lake Hallie HALLIE A vehicle fell through the ice on Lake Hallie Saturday, but no one was injured. Hallie Police Chief Gale Haas said the vehicle, driven by Kevin Bahr. 44. of Hallie, completely submerged after the ice gave way. Bahr and a passenger exited the car without injury.

Bahr was on the lake participating in an ice fishing contest. Haas estimated three cars have fallen through the ice on the lake in the past 10 years. "It's a dangerous lake if you don't know the lake," Haas said. "It has a tendency to swallow up vehicles. The vehicle, a 1994 Suburban, was removed Monday.

Driver admits to vehicular homicides HUDSON A 23-year-old Minnesota man is scheduled to be sentenced in April after pleading guilty last week in St. Croix County Court to two counts of vehicular homicide and methamphetamine possession. John P. Schanon of Oakdale i is scheduled to be. sentenced Monday, April 29.

He pleaded to two counts of homicide by negligent use of a motor vehicle and drug possession on Jan. 25, 2001. Two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle were dismissed. According to police reports, Schanon was westbound on Highway 64, about a mile east of New center line and collided with a pickup Seelen at about 12:50 p.m. Seelen.

79, both of St. Paul, were killed at Richmond, when his car crossed the truck driven by Francis J. 83, and his wife. Edna M. Seelen, the scene.

Videotaping assault brings prison term ALMA A 42-year-old Minnesota man convicted of sexually assaulting and videotaping a 14-year-old girl in 1999 was sentenced to 15 years of prison recently in Buffalo County Court. Jeffrey, S. Wooden of Winona pleaded no contest to second-degree sexual assault. According to court records, Wooden videotaped the girl, who had little or no clothing on, during April 1999 at her Buffalo County restdence. He also videotaped himself sexually assaulting her in May 1999.

Restitution set in church theft case transferred to Switzerland. Charges continue in Prescott shooting NEILLSVILLE An organist convicted of stealing items from Catholic churches in Thorp and Stanley in 1999 must pay $3,820 in restitution. Kurt A. Chione, 42, of Aurora. pleaded guilty to two felony counts of burglary and theft.

He was placed on probation for 30 months and ordered to spend 45 days in jail and make restitution. Chione appealed the conviction, saying he wanted to withdraw his no contest pleas, but the appeal was denied by an appellate court. A restitution hearing was held recently in Clark County Court. According to court records, Chione and the Rev. Glen S.

Gardner of Cashton stole thousands of dollars worth of items, saying they took the items because they were not being used by the churches. They later left most of the items in a box outside a Milwaukee church. Gardner, 40, was sentenced to six months in jail and later was ELLSWORTH Charges will continue against a man shot by Prescott police after he smashed into a squad car Sept. 30. Alfred J.

Huppert. 53, of Thousand Oaks, is charged with a felony count of criminal damage to a vehicle and two misdemeanor counts of criminal property damage and resisting an officer. Huppert requested the case be dismissed because the officers did not have probable cause to stop his vehicle. Police said they tried to stop Huppert's truck after seeing it was "all over the road." Huppert said the videotape in the Prescott squad car does not indicate that type of driving. He also said he backed into the squad car to get out of the way of an officer who came at his vehicle with a weapon drawn.

Jackson County Judge Robert Radcliffe denied the motion and scheduled a status conference for Thursday, March 7. According to police reports: Prescott police followed Huppert's vehicle into a driveway outside the city limits, and Huppert backed his truck into the squad car as an officer exited the vehicle. Shots were fired at the truck when it veered toward one of the officers. Huppert was shot once in the abdomen. His passenger, Bardea C.
