Bogard of Liberty, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. R. Miller and Mrs. Roy Maufner of Savannah, Mo., spent Suiiday with their sister, Mrs. Millard Heath. ^ Misses Wllma and Helen Brown spent Sunday afternoon at the Atcr ' home. ' A. J. Hummiston of lola spent Sunday with Everett Hall and family. Verle Drury of Vivian, S. D.. is here visiting his brother, jfmere Drury and; family. Frank Curley spent Sunday night with relatives in Kansas City. Hiraam JRodrock's were dinner guests of Walter Rodrock's Simday. Mr. and Mrs. RoUin Nevitt Jr.. and Delia Ann were dinner guests of Dr. and Mrs. Russell Nevitt of Klncaid Sunday. Mr. and Mrs, Kenneth Woots of Kansas City are visiting at Homer Justice's. . Mr. and Mrs. Ira Norton liave moved from the Shlvely property into the Ne \1tt property. Mrs. C. A. Rodrock Is visiting her son Walter Rodrock and family. The official board of the Simday school had a meeting after Sunday school Sunday and elected officers for the Sunday school for the coming year. The bid officers were all reelected. In giving the names of the new officers.in the ladies aid the name of Mrs.j Russell. Reynolds as vice- president was omitted. Mrs. Mary Whlttington is spending-this week with Mr. and Mrs. Hank , McAdams and Miss Wllma Ro."« has also spent several nights there. Saturday being Arline Coonfleld's j birthday her mother, Mrs. Frank jCoonfield, gave a very charming Uti tie party in her honor. When she came home from a neighbor's 27 of her playmates and her | teacher were In the room and the surprise was complete. The little folks enjoyed a delightful afternoon playing games and listening to the radio. Refreshments of Ice cream, cake and homemade candy were served. Mrs. Coonfleld was assisted by Mra Art Allison.. Arline received a number of nice gifts. Mrs. Theodore Button is very seriously ill at the present writing. Mrs. Millard Heath Is about the same. Consequently, most of us are interested In ways and means of serving the vegetable. A tomato Juice cocktail Is very refreshing as a pt|elude to a dinner or as a breakfast "fruit." An unusual way to serve tbmatoes'as a beginning for a dinner or luncheons is to seasonthe Juice Well, stifCen Itiwith gelatine and rice it over crisp toast or cracker84 Minced'parsley'can be sprinkled over the tomato Jelly or arranged to form a border of green around the red. Jellied tomato salad Is always good, but not particularly new. However, try serving the Jelly between slices of canned pineapple with mayonnaise masking the whole. Bananas are excellent with tomato Jelly, too. And of course such vegetables as celery, cabbage, raw turnip and cauliflower are appetizing molded In the Jelly. Substantial vegetable dishes often combine canned, tomatoes with ohibns or canned corn. Put alternating layers ot the vegetable on toast cubes into a buttered baking dish, making the first and last layers of toast. Bake 25 or 30 minutes in a hot oven and serve from baking dish. Salt codfish baked in tomato sauce makes aa Inviting luncheon •r supper dish. The fish n;iu«t be freshened over night in water to cover. Ofain and simmer until tender In fresh water. Place in a buttered baking dish and sprinkle lightly with 2 tablespoons flour. Dot with bits of butter. Cover with 2 cups strained tomato juice and bake in a moderately hot ovep. The tomato Juice thickens during the baking and makes a sauce over the fish. ' Turkish pilaf Is a hearty one- piece dish that Is suitable for luncheon or family supper. ^lacaronl and spaghetti dishes always gain savorlness If tomato Is cooked with the paste food. Turkish PlUif One large onion, 2 cups canned tomatoes, 2 tablespoons butter or meat drippings, % cup rice, 1 cup chopped meat, 1 teaspoon salt, U teaspoon pepper, % t^Bspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon sugar. A delightful suggestion for plerforming the seeming miracle of turning winter into summer is to plant a miniature glass garden or hert)ariiun. All y-ou will need is' an OTdlnary fish bowl, some miniature plants, and just a little of your time to get It started. Do not use a colored glass bowl. For your base use a little charcoal and a handful of small pebbles' Cover this with your earth (leaf mold with a little sand i^ixed in it) and then moisten. The combination Of plants that you use depends entirely upon j-our own imagination and ingenuity. You must remember, however, to use tiny plants and not ones which will easily ' mildew. Wandering jew,; moss, ferns, violets and a slip from 'L begonia plant are a few suggestions. CTover the bowl or glass container with a glass lid. Do no>t place in either direct sunlight or in the dark —a north window sill will bring the best results. Tills miniature woods should not be watered for six months or a year as it will create Us own moisture. However, if the inside of the glass becomes very wet, tilt the co*-er and allow the air to reach the plants for a time. Also, if >-ou detect any mildew, leave^the top tilted for five or six hours. If the ri^t plants have been used, you could almost take a trip to Europe and find it flourishing upwi your return. Baisin Bolls. Sift: one pint of flour with one tablespoon of sugar, half a teaspoon of i^t tfod one tea^>oon of baking powder. Rub into this one tablespoon of shortening and add sweet milk enough to malce a soft dough. Roll, spread with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar, raisins and a little cinnamon and roll as for a jelly rolL Cut in slices and bake on greased pans. Lobster Bisqne. 2 cups catmed lobster meat 2 cups cold water % cup crumbled flake soda crackers 4 cups hot milk % cup butter Few drops onion juice 1 teaspoon salt Few grains nutmeg Paprika Flake lobster fine and simmer in water for 20 minutes. Pour hot milk over crackers and add butter and seasoning. Combine with lobtoer and beat vigorously. Serve hot sprinlded with paprika. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, paprika land sugar and add well washed rice. Cover closely and cook over a low fire until rice Is tender and excess liquid has been absorbed. It will Uke about 45 minutes. Stir in meat and heat 10! minutes before serving. *> I Chopped uncooked meat can be used In this dish If more convenient. CASH Cream of Asparagns Soap. Cut off tips of asparagus and put the remainder of the grass through a fine sieve. Melt one tablespoon of butter and add to this [ one tablespoon of flour.
