school and church combined. The County Christian Endeavor Union will hold their annual New Year's party, Thursday, December 29th, at 7.30 o'clock, in the Sunday Methodist Rev. R. Dysart, pastor. years, 4 months and 27 days, a resident of Loysville, died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday morning.

He had walked into the Loysville Auto Company's garage, near his home, when he collapsed. A physician was summoned, but death was instantaneous. He was a son of John and Margaret Garber Hench and was born at Cisna Run. Mr. Hench was married to Miss Anna Shaffer, of Fort Robinson, at the Reformed parsonage in Landisburg, May 23, 1906, by the Rev.

Roy E. Leinbach. He was a member of Tressler Memorial Lutheran church and Sunday School, Loysville, served as deacon several terms and was sexton of the church for fourteen years, and served as a member of the Tyrone township school board at one time. He was a man of quiet disposition, had many friends and was highly re-spectod and well known. Surviving him are his wife, a daughter, Miss Carrie Belle Hench, at home, and a sister, Miss Alice Hench, Loysville.

A son, William Hench, died January 15, 1931. Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday at 2 p. his pastor, Rev. J. Grover C.

Knipple, officiating, and burial was in Rest-land cemetery. The pallbearers, who were nephews of the deceased, were John E. Hench, Merrill Hench, Charles Adair, Dale Shannon, Loy Rice and Chester Stahl. New Bloomfield Sunday school School room of the New Bloomfield Lutheran Church. All are welcome at 9.30 a.

Henry, Falling Springs; George Henry, Elliottsburg; James Henry, New Ger-mantown; Charles Henry, Blain; Arthur Henry, Juniata county; Bertha, Mrs. Newton Gutshall, and Jennie, Mrs. William Guyer, Harrisburg, and Mrs.

Nora Mohler, of Lititz. A son died when small. Funeral services will be held in the Stony Point church, Friday, at 10 a. Rev. H.

R. Sites and Rev. J. P. Sheesley officiating, and burial will be in the new cemetery at Blain.

Clarence Herbert Swartz, a retired farmer, whose home is a mile south of Saville, committed suicide Monday at 9.30 a. m. at the home of a neighbor, Glenn Smith, where he had first gone into the house and after speaking to them a short time, went to their barn and in a small room or entry took off his coat and hung it up, then shot himself in the head with a revolver, which he had evidently hidden before leaving home. The County Coroner, Dr.

J. E. Book, of Newport, who was summoned, after investigating pronounced it a case of suicide, and said no inquest would be held. Mr. Swartz, who was aged 55 years, 5 months and 5 days, was a son of the late William T.

and Mary Magdalene Swartz. He had been in ill health almost four years and worried over his failing health. He was a life-long member of the Reformed church, at the time of death being a member of the Ickesburg Reformed church, having held the offices of deacon, elder and treasurer, and was a director of the Ickesburg State Bank, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, New Bloomfield, and the Harrisburg Consistory. He was president of the Swartz reunion ever since its organization. Beside farming he was also engaged in the lumber business and his ill health caused retirement.

His wife, Mrs. Ella Rice Swartz, died last May. Surviving him are his aged mother, and the following daughters and sons: Gladys, Mrs. George Moose, Andersonburg; C. Harold, Loysville; C.

Leroy, Ickesburg: Betty, Mrs. J. H. Snyder, R. D.

Jane and John William, at home, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home. Rev. E. V.

Strasbaugh, of Spring Grove, a former pastor and very close friend of the family for twenty-one years, officiating, assisted by the pastor, Rev. George Herbert, and Rev. J. M. Scharf, of the Lutheran church.

Mrs. Ellen Dora Neely, aged 67 years, 3 months and 20 days, died at her home at Oak Grove, early Saturday morning of a heart condition from which she had been critically ill for two weeks and in failing health some months. She was a daughter of David and Lydia Smith Gutshall and was born in Blain. Surviving her are her husband, Frank Neely, two step-sons, John and Melvin Neely, of Harrisburg; a step-grandchild and two brothers, S. W.

Gutshall, of Blain, and John Gutshall, of Rossville, Kansas. She was a member of the Lutheran church of Blain. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Glenn W. Foulke, at the residence, Tuesday, at 10 a.

Weldon, who had been in jail here since the 17th of September for failure to comply with an order of the court directing him to pay his wife a certain sum for her support, was discharged by the court on Saturday. The postoffice in this place will open for the receipt of mail every evening from December 19 to 24, inclusive, until 8 p. m.
