2A Atehison: Globe-Wednesday, November 23, 1988 Obituaries Roy Kuhnert Sr. Roy A. Kuhnert 91, 209 E. Riley formerly of Rushville, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1988, at the Atchison Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in ROY Mount Vernon KUHNERT SR. Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at BeckerStanton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state for one hour before the funeral at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church new building fund. Mr.

Kuhnert was born June 11, 1897, in Atchison, the son of William F. and Pauline A. Handke Kuhnert. He attended Rock Grade School. He farmed in the Cummings and Rushville areas, retiring in 1963.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, shelling corn and being with his grandchildren. Kuhnert married Gertrude E. McBride on Dec. 25, 1919. She preceded him in death on May 2, 1953.

He was also preceded in death by two children, seven grandchildren, six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Roy A. Kuhnert Atchison, and Elmer Kuhnert, Rushville; two daughters, Emma Jean Bramble and Louise Shockey, Atchison; three sisters, Alice Chew, Pasadena, Pauline Berry, Van Nuys, and Ida Flynn, Sun City, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Leonard Ragland Leonard J. Ragland, 77, St.

Joseph, brother of Marjorie Mitchell, Troy, died Monday, Nov. 21, 1988, at a St. Joseph hospital following a lengthy illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. today at Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Horne in St.

Joseph. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Mr. Ragland was born in Oakley, and had lived in St.

Joseph the past 48 years. He formerly owned a transportation company in St. Joseph and later worked as a freight analyst for Crouch Brothers and Transportation American Freight Lines. He retired in 1974 after 40 years in the transportation business. Mr.

Ragland was an Army veteran of World War. II, serving in the European Theater. He was member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church, where he served on the church board, Charity Lodge No. 331 AF AM, Moila Temple Shrine and High Twelve Club No. 49.

He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a life member of Chapter No. 6 of the Disabled American Veterans Association. Surviving are his wife, Ida Mae Becker Mortuary. Inc. 800 Kansas CARL E.

TILBURY Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 25, 1988 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bendena. With Rev. Carl Schwinck officiating.

today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Valley Falls Rescue Unit, 66088. Mr. Craft was a salesman for John Morrell Co. from 1932 until 1941.

He started Nov. 1, 1941, as a substitute clerk at the Topeka Post Office and was promoted to Postal Service representative May 25, 1963. He was in charge of introducing the ZIP code to postal patrons in Topeka during the early 1960s. He was transferred to the Wichita regional office in 1963 as customer relations assistant covering a three-state area. He returned to Topeka in 1968 and retired May 31, as customer relations service analyst.

After his retirement from the Postal Service he worked two years for the Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission and also received a real 1 estate broker's license. Mr. Craft served in the Army from Jan. 28,.1944, to Feb. 6, 1946.

While in the service in San Francisco, he worked with V-Mail and Wells Fargo Bank. He served in the AsiaticPacific region and participated in the Philippines liberation. He was born June 10, 1914, at Mountain Grove, the son of James Charles and Mary G. Mulkins Craft. He grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1932.

He spent most of his life in Topeka before he moved to Blue Mound Estates near Valley Falls in 1971. Mr. Craft was a member of Philip Billard- Veterans of Foreign Ware No. 1650 and the Disabled American Veterans Association, both in Topeka, and the Valley Falls Lions Club. He was active in Democratic party politics in County and served on the Democratic Action Committee in the 1960s.

He married Pauline Tillson on July 3, 1936, in Topeka. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include daughter; Sandra Gladfelter, Lexington, a son, Charles 'Craft, Valley Falls; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lewis Craft Lewis F. Craft, 74, Valley Falls, died Monday, Nov.

21, 1988, at a Vinus Laird Vinus V. Laird, 87, Valley Falla, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1988, at County Memorial Hospital, Winchester. Services will be at 10:90 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Valley Falls.

Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. The body will lie in state at NellisHagge Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Valley Falls. Mrs. Laird was born Aug.

13, 1901, at Rock Creek in Jefferson County, the daughter of George T. and Neata Belle Miller Eshom. She lived in the Bloomfield community, southwest of Valley Falls, before moving to Valley Falls in 1922. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Others Sunday school class, Ladies Aid and was secretary of the church's Missionary Society for many years. Mrs.

Laird was also a member of Young Women's Christian Association and Better Homes Extension Homemakers Unit, both of Valley Falls. She married Fred A. Laird on Dec. 24, 1919, at Meriden. He preceded her in death on.

Jan. 24, 1975. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Margie Jean Laird, in 1941. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Sullivan, Valley Falls, and Phyllis Needham, Carbondale, two sisters, Ella Schell and Evelyn Templeton, both of Topeka; seven grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. Frakes, 84, formerly of Denton, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1988, at Atchison Medicalodge. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Denton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Denton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at BeckerStanton Mortuary. The body will lie in state for one hour before services Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Mrs.

Frakes was born Oct. 6, 1904, in Denton, the daughter of Frank J. and Elizabeth Friend Denton. She attended Denton grade and high schools. She was employed as a clerk at Triplett Grocery Store in Denton for more than 25 years.

Mrs. Frakes married Carl Frakes on Oct. 29, 1932, in Savannah, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1965. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.

She was a member of the Denton United Methodist Church and 50-year member of the Cheerio Home Demonstration Unit. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking and being with her Survivors include a won, Wayne Frakes, Atchison; a daughter, Vera Frakes, Denton; a brother, Edward F. Denton, Denton; a sister, Frances Hutchinson, Highland; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Glen Tilbury Glen E. Tilbury, 83, Bendena, died Tuesday, Nov.

22, 1988, at Heartland West Hospital, St. Joseph. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bendena, the Rev.

Carl Schwinck offciating. Burial will be in Moray Cemetery, north of Bendena. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BeckerStanton Mortuary where 'Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday by Masonic Lodge No.

440 of Bendena. Memorials are wuggested to St. John's Lutheran Church. Mr. Tilbury was born April 21, 1905, in Bendena, the son of Charles F.

and Mary Clark Tilbury, He.attended Bendena schools and was 'a member of the 1923 graduating class, the first class to graduate from Bende dena High School. He married Dorothy Sinker 1928. She preceded him in death in 1948. He married Myrtle Marsh on Aug. 9, 1949.

She preceded him in death on April 24, 1988. Mr. Tilbury attended an auto repair school in Kansas City and owned and operated an auto repair shop in Bendena. He built a garage and hardware store in early 1940 which he sold in May 1987. He was a member of St.

John's Lutheran Church, Bendena Masonic Lodge No. 440, and received a plaque for being the oldest Bendena resident at the 1987 centennial celebration. Survivors include two brothers, John Tilbury, Kansas City, and Arthur Tilbury, Bendena; a sister, Clarice McNemee, Kansas City, and a number of nieces and nephews.
